This is more annoying! God know how many times I've downloaded a movie just to hear that god-awful language (no offense, just don't like it). No idea who in his right mind would prefer dubbing in any language other than the source (except children that can't read, of course). |

The germans, they dub EVERYTHING. On dutch tv channels you just get the original audio - whatever language it may be - with dutch subtitles. On german tv, every damn movie or series gets dubbed in german. Not a problem for me as I understand both languages but I can see how annoying it can be for most people.
It's a problem with Usenet imo, everyone can UL shit. At least private trackers, ddl/ftp sites and irc chans have certified uploaders and set rules.

Not only Germans. Russians also like to dub everything to shit. Bulgarian TV also does this, albeit only for the less serious stuff (like AXN crap shows and silly movies).

 Russians dub porn too... I remember laughing years ago when I caught a soft porn flick on a Russian channel (unintentionally), and they had even dubbed the damn groans and moans. How do tell an actor he must record moaning sounds for a soft-core flick for 90 minutes? |

No, I was just going from channel to channel, and I suddenly see some cheesy soft-core sex scene (the girl riding the dude's stomach) and the moaning is in fucking Russian! After that, I was in for the whole thing, even tough I didn't understand anything.

dubbed for watching with friends/family, original audio when watching alone

many friends/family prefer to see it dubbed
its a cultural thing, most german ppl are used to dubbing since their childhood and why bother reading subs..most are poorly translated and abbreviated too much
I never watch shows with (german) subs..never ever, IF I use subs, I use the english ones in case the actors are mumbling again like in BSG
and the dubbing jobs here are well done most of the time (except comedy)

That's why I hardly watch any TV here in Germany... If a show interests me I just get it from the net... a lot of german dubs are just stupid for example, I've watched a movie where the main actor had a rather deep voice and in german he just sounded retarded

Its ok to watch hardcore (I assume we are talking about hardcore, not soft-core/erotica bullshit) but not cool to hear the chick moaning/talking (thats half the fucking experience...like having sex and not making noise...ridiculous)? |

Only porn I have seen dubbed was this asian porn and the talking was dubbed (not the moans) and it was some fuckin weird, kinky shit. I worked with this old asian dude a few years ago and we were talking about porn and he's like "I've got some good porn, I'll bring it in" (this guy used to give me ounces of weed for free...good weed too...he didn't smoke weed, he smoked heorin lol but his brother or something grew weed and he'd come in with just under a QP of weed almost every 2 weeks and put in my locker...guy was and is fucking cool) and he did. Took it home, put it on and fuck....some of it was simply nasty (golden shower type stuff) and some was fucking creepy as hell.
Dem asians are into some weird shit man...especially the older guys.
