You'll never know from watching it.
It isn't great. So don't play it.
It is just a bejeweled clone. Nothing different about it.

Is there a MP lobby system or is it by direct connect only?

This game is soo ugly compared to Puzzle Quest (1).
I dont know, wierd "art-direction", its like they fired the previous team and hired a buncha noobs. Except for the characters in the dialogue, those are nice.

Yeah, the first game was better in so many ways. In Galactrix you're at the mercy of random luck too much.

I've found this much more difficult than original PQ... it's so frustrating some times... like losing to enemy when having full hp and the computer gets 'fullnova combo' with 5 damage gems in the end... dealing like 60 damage :I

First one was seriously fucking addictive. I remember my Uni department being under student ruling for a few days, and I installed Puzzle Quest on a PC there. A few friends walked by and watched. Little did I know that the same night 4 people would have installed be playing Puzzle Quest at the same time (one on Ubuntu, mind you), leaving no computer available for me in the Students' Office.
I remember sleeping in there, and waking at 7am to find one of those 4 still playing (since what, 9, 10 pm?) and having reached level 30+ or so, while I was playing now-and-then back at home and was proud to be at level 17.
Seriously addictive, the original one that is. We'll have to see how this one goes, and I'm pretty sure I know how to test this, based on previous experience.

Wow. At first I was thinking "this is amazing....4X style space adventure using gem matching?! So awesome!!!!" Then I tried playing. Fucking bullshit. You no longer have just the top to worry about, but now you have gems falling 360 degrees?! The hexagonal aspect is confusing as all hell, and I clearly lack the IQ required to do this. That god damned AI cheats like a motherfucker. It took me like 20 (not really) tries to beat the second pirate FFS. After one turn he managed to have full energy, and bola-mined the whole fucking field.
Fuck this bullshit.
Oh, and it still crashes. Alot.
i can has computar?!

Can't add anything to that other than I don't believe I lack the IQ ^^ but it's confusing as hell especially those gate hacking thingies.
And it crashes alot alot... alot.

ok noone is disputing the fact that the ai is a fucking bullshit cheating bastardman, but the way the gems fall isnt that confusing.. if anything, i LIKE the fact that its slightly more tactical than the usual downward falling stuff.
so far the only thing that i dont like about it, is the gate hacking - PURELY because it can be frustrating as hell to JUST NEED ONE MORE BLUE SET but theres only 2 freakin blue gems on the whole goddamn board so you gotta keep clearing random gems hoping that some freakin gems you actually NEED show up! but ive only failed like... 3 times so far on gates, so its not that annoying... so far... havent gotten to any hard ones yet.
and i havent had any problems with stability so far, hasnt crashed once on me.

Is there a MP lobby, unlike the last puzzlequest, and is it populated?

i think the mp options are the same, no lobby just open games if they are available (i didnt see any) and lan.
didnt like it so much but a few rounds in and i think its great.
the new puzzle board suits the sci-fi setting, great sound effects.
nerve-racking in a good way imo.
problems with hacking are exaggerated as i have not had nearly the problems with it as i did capturing in PQ1.

I was reading the official forums, and there are some mods that improve gameplay (e.g. by making the gems move/fall faster, and to pause the hacking timer while gems are falling). Plenty of hints and tips too, so check the forums out if the game interests you.

Anyone tried Neopets Puzzle Adventure? Childish theme, I know, but a lot of casual fun... much better game than Galactrix for many reasons.
It's a shame that the expansion to the original puzzle quest probably won't be coming to the PC. We'll see.
