Nvm.... i got confused with dow2 1.21 update. Anyway... "Application load error 5:0000064545" might be caused for not having the correct app id on "steam_appid.txt" (16450) or u didnt set the cracked steamclient.dll in the proper path.
Here is my rev.ini
Code: | [Loader]
# Specify the name of the application to load.
# You can also specify the command line.
#
ProcName=fear2.exe
# Specify the location of the original steamclient.dll
# which comes with Steam client
# You can comment this line out if the game doesn't use it
#
SteamClientDll=steamclient2.dll |

You guys should try commenting the whole SteamClientDll line or better setting it to steamclient.dll.

Sorted it out.. Installed a bunch of VC++ 2005 and VC++ 2008 runtimes (incl. SP1's... for both x86 and x64). Now, how do I turn off the grain filter? I thought it would be listed in the settings for graphics?

Ya, found it after running the 1.0-to-1.03 by renaFUSED. Runs like a dream with 4xMSAA and 16xAF and everything maxed out and enabled (except for filmgrain) @ 1680x1050 with my Radeon 4870 @ 820/1000.

Well, I beat FEAR 2 last night I must say I didn't really like the ending. I understood it and realize it leaves it open to FEAR 3. Just really enjoyed the game and would've liked a better ending. I read all the cd notes and thought the story was good. The FPS aspect of the game was top notch. The graphics were amazing and the environments were more varied. The only problem I had was that the game would minimize to desktop at the worst times. Otherwise it ran flawlessly with everything at max. I also enjoyed the AI in the game. They did a good job of running while shooting and taking cover. The sound was great and I really enjoyed the scares even though they didn't scare me. The only thing that scared me was the crawling humans otherwise Alma was a little predictable. The mech portions of the game were so OVER powering but still awesome! Destroying the outside of a building and seeing the smoke cover the street was great. They needed more mech moments, and longer at that. On to finish Riddick EfBB.

It also adds new maps, but regardless of the changes, you need the files to play online -I assume this is v1.04.

FEAR.2.Update.v1.03-DREiTAGEWACH is also cumulative and doesn't require 1.01 and 1.02, I presume?

Pey I have the steam rip (or I think I do). The last couple of updates I have used (V1.02) have been in made available in a folder. They used to contain the set of files for updating & we would just need to copy past them in the F.E.A.R 2 folder to update it. Is it the same form in which you have uploaded above? I'm pretty sure the .exe based updater won't work for me, since I haven't installed it from any ISO version available on the Internet.
