SHIFT Interview With Ian Bell
A new interview is up on the official NeedforSpeed.com website, this time with Slightly Mad Studios' Ian Bell. In 5 lengthy answers to just as many questions, Ian explains in detail the physics model in the game, damage and it's impact on performance, track detail and more.
Those of you who were expecting a casual racer, think again:

We have a full realism hardcore mode called Pro that you can choose to race in from the start that will feel natural and comfortable as well as raising the bar for handling compared to anything out there (or due out soon) for all of our hardcore race sim fans. This can be combined with one of three AI difficulty levels, and on the Hard setting, the AI will fight extremely hard and give no quarter - even the most talented racers out there will find a great challenge here.
Why are you guys feeding the troll? Just let him be.
damn , i wanted to say that ..
anyway , sure could be good , but always doubt EA to deliver a worthy product ..
Underground 1 and 2 were nice , solid so to speak but they were cashing in on the tuning frenzy . MW partially was but that turned out to be the last good NFS game , like i said , partially cause they reused the some old tricks from the golden era of the NFS series .
Porsche still is the best product the NFS series ever created , 2nd is .. for me at least NFS 4

NFS SHIT it a 1:1 shameless copy of it
ah shit , i'm sorry everyone doubet you unlimited experince , fuck i bet you've been playing Shift since last fall , how's L4D4D4D??
Porsche was the only one I actually went out and bought after pirating it.
i just loved playing that game with a wheel , really made a difference since it wasnt all arcade .
am i the only one who misses one way tracks ? .. where start and finish isnt the game , driving thorugh Corsica , Black Forest and most tracks was just a joy.
A little bit of information about the M茅gane RS. The engine includes a 2.0L twin-scroll turbo 4-cylinder engine rated 250 PS (184 kW; 247 hp) at 5500 rpm and 340 N路m (251 lb路ft) at 3000 rpm with 6-speed manual gearbox, front splitter, extended sills and wheel arches, rear diffuser with central exhaust pipe, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Aluminum pedals, a Renaultsport steering wheel with thumb grips, analog tach and sport seats with extra lateral support dress up the cabin.
Next "Car of the Day" will be the Honda S2000 so stay tuned...
When Audi unveiled the R8 in 2006 it very quickly found itself a huge amount of fans thanks to the dramatic styling and even better performance. After Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson took the R8 out for a spin on their test track he said it was one the best cars he'd ever driven and would give other, more expensive, supercars a run for their money.
As if the stock R8 wasn't interesting enough Audi stepped it up a gear when they announced the GT3 version of the car at last year's Essen Motorshow. While Audi don't intend to race the car themselves (concentrating on the R15) they've made it available to so called privateer teams so any racing team with $420,000 available can buy one and add it to their own racing portfolio.
So far four R8 LMS cars have been entered in endurance races this season including the 24h Nurburgring race where they were leading the race until shortly near the end. The car is already proving an office favourite in our weekly studio races.
2.Shift Car Of The Day: Honda S2000
Spoiler:
Today's "Car of the Day" is the Honda S2000. We always like to learn a bit about the cars in our games. So we set out to do a bit of research on this car and we found out quite a bit. The Honda S2000 is manufactured in Japan and was launched in Aprol 1999 to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. it was first shown as a concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995. There have been two individual models of the car throughout its lifetime; the AP1 & the AP2. The AP1 was introduced in 1999 for the 2000 model year and featured a front-mid-engine rear wheel drive layout delivered bu a 1007 cc (122 cu in) F20C inline 4 cylinder DOHC-VTEC engine. The engine produced 37 hp (177 kW) to 250 PS (184 kW), and from 153 ft路lbf (207 N路m) to 22.2 kg路m (218 N路m) of torque.
The AP2 was introduced in 2004 and incorporated several revisions to the S2000. It included larger version of the F20C to the North American market. Designated F22C1, the engine's stroke was lengthened, increasing its displacement to 2,157 cc (132 cu in). At the same time, the redline was reduced from 8,800 rpm to 8,000 rpm with a cutout at 8,200 rpm, mandated by the longer travel distance of the pistons. Peak torque increased 6% to 162 ft路lbf (220 N路m) at 6,500 rpm while power output was the same 237 hp (177 kW) at a lower 7,800 rpm.
Production of the S2000 will cease in June 2009. Plans for an S2000 successor were scrapped in the aftermath of the automotive industry crisis of 2008. To commemorate the production run of the S2000, Honda offered a special variant called the S2000 Ultimate Edition for the European market, and a similar GT Edition 100 variant in the UK. These editions feature a removable hard top, Grand Prix White paint scheme, red leather interior, and numbered plaques.

3.NFS SHIFT: Drift Mode Announced
After a few weeks of quiet since E3 we're pleased to reveal a new game mode for Need for Speed SHIFT: Drifting. In the last few years the sport has rocketed in popularity to point where there are large, successful tournaments around the world. When it came time to add it to SHIFT we wanted to ensure the mode was treated with the same degree of accuracy as the rest of the game so we worked closely with Team Falken driver and World Champion Vaughn Gittin JR. Initially the plan was for Vaughn to play the game a few times and give some feedback but he ended up spending more than 100 hours with the team to make sure the Drift experience was as close to real-life as possible.
The team have worked exceptionally hard to ensure the mode replicated the true driving sensation of Drifting and created the same immersive experience as the rest of the racing in SHIFT - just check out the detail inside Vaughn's Mustang if you want more detail of this. While you could already expect the physics to be as realistic as possible, particular praise should go to the car team who've managed to re-create some classic Drift cars into the game.
Designing and coding a drift mode has always been a very tricky experience particularly when trying to make it accessible for new gamers and hardcore gamers alike so the design team spent a lot of time working to make sure the mode is as hard (or as easy) as you want it to be. For new gamers an Amateur setting teaches the basic of Drifting and then slowly ups the skill level until they can complete against the best.
Releasedates for videogames are never carved in stone, such as with Need for Speed Shift: New releasedates are announced and you might like to hear that we get the game a week earlier than expected:
The game is slated for shipping on September 17th 2009 in Europe and on September 15th 2009 in North America, as shown in the latest Drift Video.
Earlier there was some discussion about the releasedate, but as it seems the people in North America will get their hands on the game earlier than the Europeans. Sounds strange, since the Slightly Mad Studios, the developers of NFS Shift, are based in London, UK. And event more strange...according to EA's website the game is being released on September 18th in the UK.
this is another crap, we need good rally racing game! cmr dirt - crap. so we need anything better
Richard Burns Rally is quite old but it's a must have, especially with the RBR2009 mod
EDIT: Anyway DiRT isn't crap, it's a fun semi-arcade rally game with great gfx tbh.
And we have few chances of having a decent NFS Shift too, so I wouldn't be so pessimist
