Dude, the only thing Win 7 Ultimate has over Professional is BitLocker support and MUI language packs. If you don't use either in Vista Ultimate, Professional is just the same. Smile There is no more Ultimate in the sense of "UBeR" version they meant the Vista Ultimate (and ultimately failed). The Win 7 Ultimate is more like the Enterprise edition of Vista, but for home users (Vista Enterprise was only for enterprise users).

Nope. 100 bucks less is only because of temporary upgrade version discount which applies for Home Premium and Professional editions and not for Ultimate. In the end Ultimate will be only $20 more expensive than Pro.
Code:
* Windows 7 Home Premium (Upgrade): $119.99
* Windows 7 Professional (Upgrade): $199.99
* Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgrade): $219.99

* Windows 7 Home Premium (Full): $199.99
* Windows 7 Professional (Full): $299.99
* Windows 7 Ultimate (Full): $319.99

Yes, but at the current offer, he has nothing to lose by going Professional instead of Ultimate. He can then use Anytime Upgrade and purchase an Ultimate upgrade for 20-40$ and still have a much much better deal than purchasing Ultimate now.

Like I said, you can buy Professional cheap, and then use Anytime Upgrade to upgrade your copy to Ultimate at a low price (say $30). It is still much more worth it than buying Ultimate at the price they ask for. Smile

This is not officially final RTM but this is as close as it gets. This build might as well become final when MS signs off RTM.

you mean while its installing? if so it does that, its pretty lame installer of late, had it before with vista, if u leave it, then it finishes correctly.

Ive put it down to shoddy dvd drives or some odd bottleneck during boot to dvd install.
