I think they did. The controls flow a whole heap better now and producing combos is far easier and fluid. The fact that you can pull off body punches without a modifier is ace.
Granted there's and learning curve vs buttons but quick frankly, that sorts the shite from the good very quickly. This imo, can be no bad thing. It may put people off but its really not different to learn the controls, we do it all the time with other games so why is this any different?
But yeah, agree with above. Comparing Fight Night with Punchout isn't a fair comparison., two very different game but the same theme.

Yes you can. You can have multiple legacy careers going.
At least on PS3.

I'm disappointed with lack of buttons, its still a good game but IF people buy a game they should have a choice to add buttons or not! fuck ea.

Uh, no one else had problems with CCCLX? I've tried two disks, and it just sticks on the opening screen and then the Xbox locks up and I have to turn it off with the power button.
Anybody else have this? I have everything updated. . .
Edit: Ah ha, this is a rare glitch with the game. I fixed it by unplugging my ethernet cable before starting the game, then plugging it back in after the game started.

I saw it mentioned previously in the thread but holey monkey balls is it BLOODY HARD to get high point in the training.
I ended up doing Autotrain for a few rounds coz I just couldnt figure out how to fricking score points.
On one of them, it comes up saying like 8 or something, you are supposed to avoid the bag for 8?? then hit it? WTF... Is 8 full swings??? or does one back and forth count as 2? No idea... I didnt get any points for it.
I know im doing something stupid.
I just push forward so I avoided the bag whilst it swung over me, but cant get back up to hit the bag in time before its next down swing... Pah, maybe there are tips on how to do the training somewhere online.
Apart from that 7-0 undefeated so far. Fantastic game, I love the element of one decent smack can essentially change the game. You can go from dicking everyone to suddenly bouncing off the ropes and being like "Woah holey shit where that hit come from!!!??" and suddenly having to pay even more attention to your game.
Great stuff, incredible step up from FN3, if you were used to the analogue fighting previously.
=Edit=
Monkey arse, just threw the iso through ABGX and now that abgx is updated i had to do a level 3 fix to patch the stealth files. Previously id run the game with no internet cable connected. However does that mean Im essentially arsed now that I played the game early? I guess I should reburn with the patch ISO right?
I thought these things were stealth patched generally anyway when released to the world online, or do ABGX actually create the stealth for individual ones.

You need to lean fully to left/right the number of times it asks for, in other words Left Trigger+Left Analogue. You can do this as fast as you're comfortable with without getting hit by the bag.

ROFL!! << Penis award.
That makes sense, you gotta hit the bag afterwards or just dodge left right as it swings past?

I think if you've not been online with it you stand a much better chance than some. No one's quite sure if it stores previously played games so its a bit 50/50 I guess.
I made the same mistake with the exception of not pulling the ethernet cable out (completely forgot it was in tbh). Regardless, I'll reburn tonight with it stealthed.

Meh annoying none the less. I read somewhere that the info is stored on the xbox for when you connect to live and then dumps it to live servers :S Ahh well, guess thats what you get for wanting to play early and not having the patience to wait n patch.

Unplugging the network cable or disconnecting from XBL will not 100% protect you from the ban hammer!
It was discovered and confirmed well over a year ago that, while it performs a reduced number of checks (PFI, DMI, SS, Capacity, etc.) when not connected to XBL, the system does in fact record violations offline and has a mechanism for transmitting that data upon the next connection to XBL. This type of data is not stored on the HDD, but rather in non-volatile system memory (NVRAM). As such, for non-stealth discs, it's strongly recommended neither to play, nor even to have the disc sitting in the drive, when connected *or* offline from XBL. Disc checks are performed periodically even if you're just sitting in the dash/etc, and not actually playing the game. With the offline recording of system violations, even being disconnected from XBL or having your network cable unplugged doesn't serve as any form of ban-proofing. |

Nothing is confirmed and still no one knows for sure how trhey detect and ban. It is all pure speculation.
My mate is running an older firmware like myself that can play wave 3 games aswell as older backups. He plays and has played games online that were not stealth protected and has not yet been banned from live whereas I was banned a couple of years ago now.The only difference being that he never plays games weeks before release like I did which in my opinion is more likely to be the reason why some people get banned and others don't.

Damn, people weren't kidding with the training.
That shit's impossible.
I disliked the training in FNR3, but at least it was doable without too much of a hassle.

I've managed to get max points in all the training modes except for the one where you do combinations on the sandbag. It's fucking annoying because as people have said already, you make one mistake and you can forget about max points. And especially with the combinations it's bitchy because the controller, a lot of the time, reads a hook as a bodyshot or an uppercut and vice versa.
As for the other minigames, the first two are pisseasy (sparring), just pound the shit out of your partner and you're all good, think my record is 72000 for the open sparring and the champion-level is at 22000 or something. However it does matter what boxer you get to spar versus.
The heavy bag that you're supposed to be pushing is a real bitch because it's all about luck. I've maxed it three or four times but purely because I was lucky enough to have the target stay in the high or low zone for quite a while. If you get unlucky and it switches a lot you're fucked because lets face it, the switching between upper and lower hits in this game isn't fast.
It's more or less the same with the doublebag or whatever it's called, get lucky where you get the marks and you can get championlevels in no time, get unlucky and you're on prospectlevels and you've wasted your training.
Maizebag is another real easy one, no luck involved, just timing and patience, first few times I always got caught by the bag but once you figure out the bags speed as well as your boxers speed it's easy enough.
So to cut it short, except for the sparring and maizebag trainingmodes, it's all down to luck.

Managed to make it to 'contender' in legacy mode now. So far 17 wins 0 defeats. I'm ranked 13 in the Welterweight division, accepting a challenge and squaring up against a challenger ranked #14.. the game just got tough all of a sudden. I had 16 wins by knockout up till then. This challenger took me the whole distance even though I won it easily by the judges decison. (although my health and stamina finished quite a bit lower then my opponants..).
Next fight, challenging for the #10 spot was another matter. In the 6th-7th round I managed to knock him down twice and thought I had it in the bag... but in the 7th he came back and knocked me down twice and I couldnt get up in time for the count on the second time... damn!. fun!... reloading last save lol.
Just bought it today and cant wait to see what it is like online after I finish work tonight.

What factors affect chance to stun the opponent? Sometimes I can get stunned with one punch and sometimes he gets hit and nothing.

You'll be reloading a lot if you expect to maintain a perfect record. To become #1 you have to accept some losses and train after them otherwise you will keep getting beaten.

After having played fo a few hours I must say that this is so much of an improvement over FNR3. More tactical, more fights are resolved by decision. The only thing I liked much better in FNR3 was the soundtrack, especially "Wanna know".
Is there a feature like in FNR3 to change styles, signature moves etc? Where to check the benefits of custom gear? Anyway, the idea of trunks giving +5 to the body is kinda weird in a sports game, but whatever.
