I used to argue with people on this subject (so no point in arguing ), but it appears to be very subjective. Some people, like me, see the difference even with 24" monitors (and 32" TVs), but some just can't see it even with the largest TVs out there. So for you this is a good thing because you don't spot the problems with videos. Smile

You usually notice the higher bitrate 1080p have with action movies.

Sure 1080p (720p) is nice - but I prefer DivX/Xvid - 2 minutes to download and extract, compact enough to store (700/1400 MB vs. 10 GB per film) and the quality is fine. Who the fuck needs to see every sweaty pore on someones face anyway?

Come on....
1080p isn't (only) about sweaty pores but about being able to tell actors from each other. Most Xvid scene releases are piss poor. It's fine with me to watch a decent DVD rip, I do sometimes if there is no 1080p version available, but I have no understanding for people who defend 500x300px scene realeses.

I made a real comparison for you, here is a scene from Tropic Thunder:

This is how it would look on a XviD scene release (keep in mind that this is actally better since it is from a high bitrate source while XviD scene releases have a laughably low bitrate)

This is how the 1080p version looks

Barely any difference, right Laughing
