Nope, at least not to the same degree. There will probably be some on consoles. It is really good fun, I hope more games come out with similar melee features in the future maybe in a proper RPG setting.

Hehe, most of those are shit apart from PoP and JE. Although worth a try Fizzy. Is Mage Knight Apocalypse any good? Not really heard much about it.
JBeckman is right on with Severence, Rune and Enclave, very good games for their time plus Severence and Enclave are still quite pretty considering their age, which is a bonus. Forgot about those!

sorry for the stupidity, but what is dmmm?
back in the old days..somewhere in the late 90's came nice game name time commando, you played soldier who cross time gates and fight-starting at the stone age till the far future in the space.
this is one of the greatest games i played..i think i still have the original somewhere.
here are some memorial screenshots and...a little bird told me that you can find it even today;)

Dude Time Commando was one of the most annoying games ever, I remember playing through the demo and it took me like 10 minutes to just line it up to throw pebbles at ape men in the stone age.

Yeah, but where's the fun at shooting, when you can take a 2x4 or a pipe and crack someone's skull with it? And the sound effects... Oh...

The combat system in that game was supposed to be a little more involving but due to a balance problem most enemies are taken down by just spamming the lmb mouse button to do a fast attack wich often overwhelms the enemy.
(Giving little reason to the powergamers to try the various combos and special moves.)
The previous Gothic games also had a somewhat special combat system instead of just pressing the mouse buttons randomly.
Can't remember any interesting melee combat games aside from the ones already mentioned but one could also try "Arx Fatalis" wich is Arkane's previous game before they released DMoMM but it's better known for it's unique spell system than for it's combat system.

The best melee games to this date are Jedi Knight (series) and the newer Mount and Blade. Period.
Die by the Sword was kind of a kool sword swinging game, but that system alienates most people.
DmoMM had nice combat, agreed, but it doesn't seem to have the "depth" of the fights as for instance Jedi Academy had.
JAcad duels (yes multiplayer of course) took weeks to practice before you had any chance of getting any good at it.
3 stances, 8 different swings for each stance. Like 3 Special "moves" for each stance. Very nice hitbox system and to spice it all up... Force powers.

It doesn't take weeks, there are a few different moves you can spam and win 80% of fights. Still a good game though.

but somehow...this game sucked lol.

In my point of view Severance: Blade of Darkness was the best game in this category ever even if it is a quite outdated game
I haven't lost my mind. I know exactly where I left it.

All I can say is that when you started playing it really advanced, like the best guys out there in duels, there were no such thing as "spamming". You needed to learn what tactic/moves countered others. And that wasn't as simple as it sounds...
The guys with the most experience of the game and the ones with the best reflexes and "smarts" always won.
On the other hand, I don't know which patch you played... Maybe some balance mistake or a too early version. When I played it though the dual sabre wasn't ÜBER and could pwn all with spamming one or two moves.
Perhaps you played it when the console fanbois had had thier say and the game was made more simplistic?

I had two friends who played it all the time, really got into it, joined a clan and considered themselves masters. They were even ranked on this site, something like 78th for one and 140th for the other. Plus they would say all this stupid shit when dueling like "Release your anger.." and "The light side has made you weak" stupid shit like that, anyway they were Jedi Knight/Academy geeks!
So I played against them on a LAN having played through singleplayer a few times and mutiplayer only enough to know the ropes. Well, the fighting is fairly simplistic in my opinion, especially considering blocking is automatic, I just figured out a few moves which seemed to connect the majority of the time and 'spammed' them, winning more fights against them then I lost. Using the lightside absorb power all the time makes it even easier. Needless to say it really pissed them off, so I took my spammage online and in 8/10 fights I would win, I didn't really play many duel maps though. Got boring fairly quick like this, but I din't have any motivation to change my tactic since it was so effective.
Of course half the people in online games don't even know what they're doing so maybe I would have had a better time playing on private servers with friends.
