I'm of no use here, Spyke is the AMD wise-man.

it's also not as cheap. Price for performance AMD will win.
Also NOUSE the AM2 socket was virtually useless. Unless your going to get an x2 6000+ or 6400 there really isn't any use of that socket, it was nothing but crap.
The only use for AM2 is IF amd even keeps it for their AMD phenom chips comming out (x2 and x3) but even then it's a stretch.
You already got an awesome motherboard. If you can find it than look for the X2 4400+. I'm still on my 939 with a 4400 and there isn't anything my system can't handle.
The two processors you picked out offer no real performance gain worth the extra money over the 3800+ especially since it could be overclocked decently.
The kingston memory im not too sure of but given the price it seems like their "value" kit which isn't all that great. If your going to use kingston use their "hyper x" series but that's pretty expensive so you'll be better off with the G-Skill but still even then the performance of that specific DDR2 isn't worth the upgrade to AM2 seeing as the times are a lot shittier than DDR's pc3200

Can't you squeeze E4300 or something of that sorts in your budget? They are really so much better.

eh, intel are corporate assholes and I refuse to buy into them reguardless of how "good" they are. AMD has been kicking intels ass up and down the field for years and this core 2 duo was the first time they out did AMD in years so im sure AMD will reclaim their thrown. That and I have no respect for a company that pushes ads as much as intel does to the point where I have to see their shit in my games.

If I can remember games where nv had ads, I'll post them here... Too tired to remember anything (not that I do when I'm not tired).

ya the only use I see for AM2 is AMD is release the phenom X2 (not sure if the X3 is going to hit AM2 as well) version for AM2

Spoiler: | |
what's the difference besides speed, and I guess that the faster one is worth $10 more (but it also includes shipping discount)???
asus z170-A || core i5-6600K || geforce gtx 970 4gb || 16gb ddr4 ram || win10 || 1080p led samsung 27"

They differ in L2 cache. If i remember correctly Toledo has 1024KB and Manchester 512KB. But you may want to verify that before you decide for either of them.

The faster Toledos (4400+ and 4800+) have 2x1MB L2 cache while 3800+ and 4200+ have 2x512MB. And the 4200+ Manchester also has 2x512MB so in this case the cache size for both the cpus is the same.

What does all that mean? You're paying 10 bucks for basically a cpu running 200MHz faster. Unless the Toledo revision has some additional overclockability which could take it beyond what you could achieve with the 4200+ Manchester. You could go for the 3800+ and crank up the bus speed.
