I was browsing through old photos and found pics of my old setups!
I had my first pc in 1997 but first pictures are from around 2005/6 when I had my first cell phone. I do have vhs of that amazing 1997 setup I got for christmass when I was 7. As far as i remember there should be a record of me finding a cardboard boxes under the christmass tree while the pc was being connected upstairs by my dad(grandma's house). I run upstairs and there it is! My first pc with pentium 200, s3 savage and sound blaster. With Quake, Duke Nukem 3D and Return Fire installed. I immidietly started playing duke3d hehe!
I also remember being amazed (with whole family) by quality of some random fmv music clip which was there.

Anyway:
This pic is around from 2005 or 2006. Up until 2007/8 my pc was at grandmother's house. Then it was moved to my parents small flat. Fun fact - I wanted it at my grandmother's place because I was always going there friday evening and returning sunday evening. That meant that I had peace and quiet and grandma's tons of food to fully enjoy playing games the whole weekend as opposed to shitty 8m square room with my siter at my parents flat. I remember starting kotor1 sunday evening and barely managing to finish it sunday evening before returning home.
 Spoiler:

Also - At the time we had another pc at parents place. Only it had internet so I was moving everything on hdd with rubber fucking bands arund it to mitigate vibrations Laughing
My parents had Lg flat crt 17'' but I prefered my 120hz 15 inch eizo beast.

2007. LCD update, hdd case update Laughing
 Spoiler:

2012. Parents flat.. studies. Up until 2016 setup was in this room but in plenty terrible configs(without desk and so on). This is it's final form there.
 Spoiler:

2013. Oculus!
 Spoiler:

2015. My flat
 Spoiler:

2016/2017. Final form. I Am 28 ffs. Why did it took so long Laughing
 Spoiler:

I have another 30 pics with every iteration but those are main milestones. I think the best setup is now(Clean, cozy and my own!) but grandmother's place setup with Eizo monitor was just special and full on nerd cave. I miss it Crying or Very sad

I think it was this one:

What i played the most with as a kid was Playmobil though.

*Joins the turtlemania train* Cute Pom Pom's
I still have a giant box in the attic full of turtles from different generations (including the specific ones released with the movies), I was so addicted to them that I would spend all the birthday money on toys with no regrets at all. If the Ninja Turtles hadn't existed I'd probably be rich now :'(

On topic, my setup history is somewhat similar to Janz's: if my memory doesn't fail me I actually started on the 386, then hopped in the Pentium 133Mhz + Voodoo 1, followed by the Pentium 2 300Mhz + Voodoo 2, ...[dark times]... jump to Pentium 4 2400Mhz + Geforce Ti4400 (later replaced by the Radeon 9800pro), big jump to the Core2Duo e6600 + 8800GTX (I spared no expense, blame Crysis), the GTX obviously took fire but the warranty thankfully granted me an Ati 4870. Then Rage arrived and killed the 4870 too so I eventually did the full upgrade to the mighty i5 2500k (which I still have Very Happy) + GTX 570 (replaced by my current 970).

Obviously! What else was it meant to do, really, but burst into flames? When I read that I lost it! Stated so matter-of-factly. Laughing

Corsair PSU... Those never fail! Bought an all new pc a year ago (gpu bought in nov).
Only old thing that I still kept in the rig? My 2007 620W Corsair PSU. Still working flawlessly.

Had to get REALLY creative to get two 8-pin PCIe to power the 5600XT with the 6-pin ones, though Very Happy

Its definitely a solid PSU. I had to eventually upgrade because I put in dual overclocked GTX 480s in my rig and the PSU fan would go nuts because the load was so high

What the fuck man... You're REALLY into analogue synthesizer stuff, aren't you? Very Happy

I bet you dream about oscillators, square/triangle/sine waveforms, attack etc. while watching a live Tangerine Dream concert in 1977. Very Happy

That's difficult, it varies a lot but Vordhosbn, Rhubarb and Polynomial C are some of my absolute favorites.

Since I'm more into classic substractive synths and digital 80s workhorses, I can attest that the more melodic Aphex stuff like Donkey Rhubarb, Avril 14th, Alberto Balsalm, Flim and Windowlicker are my jam. Selected Ambient Works I and II are a must as well.
