Just checked in the task manager. Seems this game is mostly GPU hungry. I lowered the FPS limit to 30 and it dropped to 60% while any other graphics options had zero impact. Try limiting the FPS.
As for the way to play it...try using a main bus. I sucked at Factorio real hard before I learned about this concept, and always got stuck at around the part where I had to integrate blue circuits into the factory because the spaghetti got way too convoluted and dense to untangle.
The "main bus" deals with this elegantly by funnelling resources down on a row of belts, splitting off whatever is needed and adding on newly produced stuff that's needed down the line. You start with the basic stuff like iron and copper plates, and start building the bus in any direction. For example, you need green circuits, so you check what's needed, divert those things off the bus, only making things locally what's needed (copper wires in the case of the green circuits because they are used in only a few recipes so they don't need to be on the bus), and feeding the end product onto a new line so they can be used in bulk later on.
It also makes problem solving a breeze. You just glace at the main bus and instantly see what's lacking and can trace it back to the source real fast.
Here's an example of a bus in my last game in Factorio. It's the big yellow line in the middle, flowing from the top to the bottom. Spoiler: | |
This concept should also apply here. Routing the bus along the equator would be an ideal place, and you can stack belts on top of each other instead of having to put them side-by-side like in Factorio.
Personally I got to the logistics towers way before I needed to bother with a bus here, and at that point the drones hauling all the stuff are basically acting as the bus.

I thought a bus wasn't necessary in this game because of the logistics towers. You get that research with red cubes, no?
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Yes, but Pumpy said he wasn't sure if he was playing right, so I though I could share what concept pushed me over from "I have no idea what I'm doing" to actually being able to plan ahead.
Without the main bus I was building willy-nilly wherever I had a bit of empty space, but with the bus I learned to organise my arrays into neat rows, and that still applies to the logistics towers too.
So while the bus isn't necessary, for a beginner it can be a real gamechanger that not only teaches how to route the products around, but how to organise individual production lines.

Red is easy to create OK yes sure but how the fuck can I get more hydrogen?
Even though I have 8 refineries I only produce enough hydrogen for barely 6 matrix labs
And my main bus now covers the whole planet but fuck that took like forever
btw setting this to 1920x1200@30FPS really helped to keep the noise low. I don't even know why I tried to play this at 3440x1440x144FPS

Each well and pump (at my current level) produce enough oil in one lane to power 3 refineries. Two wells pump so much oil, that the lane is brim full. As my "main bus" spans the entire planet, but is basically only capable of providing 6 refineries with enough oil to work, I'd need to have more lines dedicated to crude oil or I have to build more local refineries which also means that I need 2 dedicated lanes just for resulting refined resources (light oil and hydrogen). One lane needs ~1000 belt elements to span the planet

Can I upgrade belts or do I have to replace every single belt one by one?

Right now, you need to remove and rebuild. But it's in their to-do before Chinese new year list, IIRC.

Today we want to discuss with you our short-term goals, what we plan to do before the Chinese New Year holidays, which begin at February 11th:
Quick Upgrade: You will be able to upgrade some buildings and conveyors by directly putting the new ones (cover/overlap/move) on the lower grade facilities, without having to demolish the old ones.. |

There is a Mod out there which lets you mass dismantle with the landfill tool. Also if you need more Hydrogen, get more Refinerys with X-Ray cracking running.
1. Go here and Download the right one, x64/x86 and put the files and the root of the DSP Game and start the game once so the necessary folders get created.
2. Close the Game.
3. Download then the Plugin and place it in the BepInEx/Plugins folder.
4. Done
When in game you can now use the Landfill tool and hit space to massdelete whatever you need/want.
Also it opens up the Possibility to start a new game with a Cluster of up to 1024 Solarsystems instead of just 64 Stars (When one or two Blackholes/Neutron stars aint enough)

Don't bother with major bus lanes. Spearhead to inter and intra planetary logistics and you can transport stuff all over the place.
Only thing that I have going around the center of the planet are solar panels. You'll have more power than what you can figure out what to do with.

I've moved all my production facilities to other planets. My home planet is now just using logistics to import the resources needed to make research cubes, make space warpers, feed sail launchers, feed ship launchers, and produce anti-matter fuel containers.
Each planetary base provides one or two resources, and are powered by a single mini-sun.
My home planet exports anti-matter fuel at a rate of 1 every 4 seconds. It takes a mini-sun 2-3 minutes to consume one anti-matter fuel.
Power is no longer a concern.

Right, once you get logistics, shit gets rather trivial to transport in and out. Does require power though.
Most annoying part of my current game is, home planet has tons of stuff but the other planets only have silicone and that other resource. That's it. Getting screwed here LOL.

yeah didn't realize at first... when you unlock that "Sail" upgrade you can fly around on the planet but also simply fly up further and take off and fly to another planet just like that.
I thought at first it was just for flying around on the planet to get around faster.
very slow without the upgrade after that that increases max speed so you can only go to nearby planets realistically. and make sure you bring enough decent fuel or you might get stranded.

The big rocks spread around on the first planet contain titanium, so you can hoard some of it.

And the initial needs of silicon you can get from stone.

Right, some of the factorio concepts go out the window in this game. Once you unlock logistics, buses don't matter no more. Just ship things across planet and between planets as needed.
