Just to show how bad single player games are for business:
https://massivelyop.com/2021/08/05/square-enix-q2-2021-financials-final-fantasy-xivs-subs-are-up/
"Square-Enix has released its second quarter financial report for 2021, and it paints a rather middling picture overall. Net revenue for the quarter YOY was up only 1.8%, with YOY declines in operating income and profits, in spite of the launch of Outriders and the NieR remaster, which were apparently unable to keep up YOY with the Final Fantasy VII Remake (and presumably, COVID lockdowns) in Q2 2020.
So what did contribute to that positive growth? Mobile sales, digital media, the company’s “amusement” facilities segment, and… MMORPGs."
Perhaps fallen order did well. But it's not enough and worth the risk. There is more money in lootboxes.

The thing about MMORPG's is that they're much more costly to maintain; servers and bandwidth, updates, a permanent game team on the payroll to update/bugfix/support/etc.etc.). The big ones are obviously still quite profitable but I personally don't know the actual net profit after all the cost of running the game has been deducted (or if they even report it). Single player games are basically one-time deals with a skeleton crew working on support, bugfixes and support after release. Besides, the sheer amount of people that prefer SP games over MMO's is huge (or love both formats...).

Although Fallen Order had several conceptual cinederpmatic flaws borrowed from other console tripe-A titles and its story was the typical Disneyan fare, I enjoyed the ride for what it was, like some sort of Dark Souls Jar Jar Edition. Wouldn't mind having a sequel, though in all honesty I don't really care about the franchise's fate. Alas, the heights of JK2/JA and their free-flowing PC-centric combat will never be reached again, and it's a damn shame

Not perhaps. It was the second best selling game of 2019 or whenever it came out. Sony's singleplayer cinematic shit sells in the tens of millions. God of War was just announced at 20 million. Singleplayer is not doing bad. It's individual games, regardless if they're multi or single.

Good, simple game.
It has a cool SW atmosphere to satiate some eventual hunger raised by some book / film / cartoons. But it's too bad there's no replay value here.

Coolio.. some more lightsaber action with a cute little BD-1 on your shoulder. I do hope they improve the gameplay mechanics instead of just lifting it from other games. The lore, characters and the world they built was cool but it was annoying to go back to the same planets 2-3 times as well as having to start from the landing pad every time. They should interconnect some key meditation/save sites so you don't have to spend 20-30 minutes on getting to where you've already been. Oh well, we'll see.

It was pretty good, but exploration should have been much more rewarding than some skin shit.

If you're in the US, and have Amazon Prime, for the rest of this month (January 2022) you can claim a free code for this game on Origin at gaming.amazon.com.
If you don't have Amazon Prime, the prices for this game will drop to below $1 on the CD Key sites as the deadline to claim the key is Feb 2nd, and the last day they can be redeemed on Origin is Feb 7th

I agree. A good game with some flaws. Instead of making exploration worth something they simply put some useless skins in them.

Yes. Amazon Prime members may claim one game code for this offer from January 3, 2022 to February 2, 2022. The code will be eligible for redemption on Origin until February 7, 2022. |

They are very strict with those redemption dates as I tried to give someone one of the free Battlefield keys that I forgot I had and even though it should have had a few more hours to be redeemed going by the date they posted it would expire it still said it could not be redeemed so I am not sure which timezone they actually end up using for the cutoff times.

I agree with this sentiment too.. instead of a wallrunning console style game I want a next-gen Jedi Knight game. I'm quite worried about the remake of The Knights of the Old Republic since it's published by SONY. Unfortunately us old farts in our 30'ies, 40'ies and 50'ies grew up with proper
will get another console port. I somehow doubt that SONY will spend any notable sum to streamline and optimize the PC version.
And the developers, Aspyr Media, haven't made a single game so far. They've only ported existing games to Mac, Linux, iOS and Nintendo Switch as well as a bunch of console ports to PC.
There's a HUGE difference between developing a game with soooo many things going into it (script, design documents, modelling, texturing and art design, sound and music, world building, npc AI, pacing and level design etc. etc. etc.) compared to porting where you lift all the assets and the engine and reshape it to work on a different system. Sure, the latter isn't easy but it's nothing like developing a game whether it's a new IP or a reboot.

Spoiler: | You're probably right. I guess piracy is finally spanking us hard, just not how the "PC gaming will die blablabla" people predicted. Instead we get 95% second hand garbage from the consoles. |

Yes, Jedi Knight sequel please, but with FPS lightsaber combat. I dont want shitty forced 3rd person lightsaber combat (like jedi academy).

Today's majority of 'customers' (read: gamers) have been 'trained' to have much lower standards, to receive instant gratification, to accept whatever the hype machine feeds them.
On the other hand, us, handsome, wise and (very)intelligent veterans, we moan each day about immersion, innovation, passion and rewarding hardship... So, damn son, of course we are getting ignored!
Look, even in this... Dark Souls 4 (four!), talking about instant gratification / and inherent mOdeRn short-cuts to rewards, that horse jumping off a cliff in a spot where 'convenient' magic has been placed... I mean... fuck son, really?! That's lazy mechanics, bub! Besides, GOD FORBID we delay the player with 20 seconds and put him to find HIMSELF(!) a path trough the landscape...
Good thing we (me, at least) still find pleasure in replaying games that were made with passion. And, thank GOD, there's still plenty of those!
NO ONE said that we need to play / try / buy EVERY single (AAA) game that comes out nowadays.

Yea man, but we also want good stories, dialogues, choices, also exploration and unique places and characters from Star Wars.
It's not all about pew pew, swoosh swoosh.
But if you enjoy it, good for you! You're lucky you have something Star Wars to play...
