Note that this test is ONLY for the high CPU issue, and whether it negatively affects performance. Thanks. |

How?>_> It is genuinely the worst part of the game. |
WOW! You mean someone has a different opinion and taste to you!? Holy shit, stop the press! It's the worst part of the game FOR YOU, just like "furriesomgomgomghatelolz" is the worst for others. It's not the worst for me, not by a long shot, the acting is good and the voices are both cute and fitting, so yes; I like the voice acting. I like the cute little flying daemon, I like the talking sword, it's all very Ghibli, even the artwork is rather reminiscent. |
Way to overreact, haha. If you did read most of the reviews, both critics and users, you did notice many of them agree that voiceacting "could be better". The choice of voices is good - Fidget has thin, squeaky, cute voice, Dust has a voice of young man ~17-18 y.o. who is ready for adventures and full of energy, the Sword has deep ethereal voice of someone who lived thousands years and possesses great experience and wisdom and patience, but the acting itself... it makes the impression that actors try WAY too hard to fit the role when they don't need to, they already fit the character, just do it naturally, damn! Especially Fidget and Dust. Sword is fairly bearable, although the voice of the same actor narrating opening was really dull and blunt.
That is pretty much the only issue I have with this game. It makes me cringe sometimes during cutscenes >_>

Yeah, I've been testing it for last hour and it seems like it just now uses one core, but still overloads it for 100%.
I guess that will do for now.

Ah, so because other people believe something one way that makes it fact? I guess God does exist then! I like the voice acting. Stop trying to convince me that I'm wrong just because "others" disagree.

This is a very nice surprise. Art and animations are brilliant and the gameplay is fluid and functional. I also like the voice acting. Fits the game very well IMO.

Umm... did you even read my post? I even explained why did *I* dislike it. The part with other options was to give understanding it is not just me think this way and many people share the same opinion (and there is new threads on steam forums with the same opinions as feedbak as well even now).
I have no clue where did you get the idea that I'm trying to "convince you that you are wrong just because "others" disagree." (w-what), I just asked a simple question why do you like VA that even didn't require an answer and mostly was rhetorical.
If this topic is so sensitive to you I'm sorry, lets just pretend it never happened and move on >_>

Man, you keep putting strawman and ad hominem arguments all over.
| Quote: | | Which is an ill-disguised "I'm right, see? others agree with me" |
But I never said that, why are you making things up :< I told I'm sorry, I understand you like the game and take to the heart any critique or feedback/elaborated opinion, but there is no reason to overreact, it just a game and not even the greatest one.
Geez man, that was cheap and angry.

Now who's dropping strawman arguments? All I said was that I like the voices and I don't care if you do or don't, suddenly this means I dislike all criticism and take it to heart? No, I'm simply talking about my taste after being questioned on it by you. I have nothing vested in this game and I don't care if someone critiques/dislikes any part of it (well, the "hate it because furries" thing gets my hackles up, admittedly) -- you're the one that wouldn't accept my opinion, not vice-versa.
I like the voice acting. You don't. That should be the end of it, you don't see me throwing up sources to other opinions supporting my like of the VA, do you? Because, to be completely honest, that's just rude. There are plenty of people that share your tastes and plenty of others that share mine, it's not right to use them as bargaining chips.

Now that you mention it, I've noticed that too. Even with "High" portraits enabled, they can be rather indistinct and jagged sometimes. I'm thinking they're either like that due to 720p on XBLA, or perhaps the option isn't working? I'll run some comparisons and see.
~edit~
Nope, there's a definitely drop in quality when switching from High to Normal. I guess it is working as intended - just not all that superawesome on higher resolutions.
~edit~
THAT'S why the soundtrack is so freakin' good in this --- it's Alexander Brandon! Man, the entire game was programmed and developed solely by Dean Dodrill, then it was scored by Alexander Brandon. So much

Hello everyone, version 1.02 is live. While I'm looking at a number of issues to fix for 1.03, I wanted to get the CPU usage issue resolved asap, so this is a small update.

i was wondering if there could be a way to export portraits and stuff from the game...there's these XNB files..
The thing is,i already tried XNB Exporter, placing it at the folder where the xnb files are at...but no matter if i write the filename WITHOUT THE XNB or leaving it blank (for converting all to PNG)..the program instantly CRASHES without a result
I've heard it was designed for "Terraria" (What's that?)..but then i tought "Maybe it works for Dust!"..guess i was wrong
is there any way to extract sprites and portraits?

Much better! I've just been using the launcher and setting to 3 cores rather than 4, still 100%s the 3 cores it's on, but at least it's not the whole chip.

For some reason in some areas it still goes up to 100%. I figured it is probably related to some GFX affects or special animations.

I agree that voice acting in this game is pretty bad (especially the one of that flying squirrel). Had to skip dialogues because of that. The characters in general were pretty lame and targeted for 5 year olds (yup, especially the mentioned above squirrel) but other than the game was quite alright.

Yeah, writing and voiceacting is the only issues of this game so far. All technical issues pretty much fixed.

I finally managed to play it for an hour, and surprisingly I quite like it despite my aversion to anime-like games.
It's mainly because of the visuals and animations, which are superb (but the music is great as well). Gameplay-wise it's a mixed bag for me since I'm not a fan of the fast jap combat but the various quests and relatively vaste world are keeping my interest alive. I found the style quite different from Bastion though, more fairy-like..and furry

No idea, that's the thing. I have no clue as to why it does that and if it even is just the game's fault or something else. Setting the affinity to just 1 core does nothing for me. Changing the settings does nothing as well. Now I'm noticing stuttering even when walking around, but in battles it gets so bad that it's kind of a slideshow.
Edit: I fired up Fraps and the framerate seems to go from 53-55 to 46-48 ever 2-3 seconds, even in the menu. That's why it stutters I guess. Bigger fps drops seem to be present, but not very often.
