This is probably the wrong place, but didn't really see anywhere else...I mean a TV can double as a monitor, but anyway, my friend is looking for a new LCD TV and I saw a good deal on an LED TV, it comes with a free Xbox 360 Elite, so was wondering if LED TVs were any good or just hype (Wiki said they are just LCD TVs with LED backlighting and they can offer lower power consumption)?
Thanks.

LED TVs here are like 2-3X the price of LCDs ...

vs.

basically they are thinner, require less power, and have better contrast. still seems like a fucking rip-off to me though...

The RGB-LED TVs and monitors i've seen so far had much more vibrant colors and a better contrast than screens with CCFL. But i would wait till prices drop.

I think the most important thing as well is how much you enjoy the new TV.

I only have a 40" samsung LCD 720p 60hz and it seems perfect to me Smile

New Samsung LED TVs looks nice, thin and all, it would be great to have one, but here they cost like 1500€ and more Sad

Well, the main reason would be savings from power, better picture and x360, but since the price is double, I'll see what my friend thinks first, thanks for input.
