Family member using an old pc board etc etc and keeps getting trouble getting the right drivers etc, tried everything to date but even when it installs said drivers for board it still shows they are missing lol..

What he wanted to know was the name of a worthy driver scanning app, he tried some then found out before they can help you download them etc you goto pay for it LuLz..

Anyhow I said id ask the nforcers brains as its a good wealth of info.. Very Happy

Whats your take on these apps? What one might be worth bothering with if any for this annoying situation? So then I can look for it for him and burn it off.

Cheers.

Driver Magician

But if you know type of your mobo and devices in your pc, there is really no need for such application.

Yeah we did know I worked on it for an age with no luck, he uses a pci slotted usb hub now as thats the only way he can use a usb socket, the onboard ones wont update with a driver at all..
Its most odd, it says the sata/pci manager/bus and stuff is all short of drivers lol but when you install them via auto update from the board site/nvidia or even manual download and install it does the install dance then reboot look and its still asking for them all.
I gave up ages ago with it but was wondering like himself now if maybe an app like that driver scanner might assist in anyway.

Probably needs to get sp2 (assuming its xp) to get the right dirvers. Most mobo manufacturers don't include usb drivers on their installation discs and direct you to the sp2 site. Till then the problem shows up as a yellow exclamation mark in device manager under usb controllers.
