I've had this problem in the past - and chances are it's because your modem from your ISP has a built in router. I tried calling my ISP and asking them how to access the routed modem and they could not offer any support at all - so I ended up having to figure it out on my own...
Call your ISP and ask them if the model modem you have is routed...

Yeah I'm not sure what kind of modem you have but that's the only thing I can think of -
You could try getting a free dns at www.no-ip.com then disabling your windows firewall and putting your LAN ip address on the DMZ so you know nothing else is blocking the connection then attempting to VNC to your desktop from another computer in your house using the DNS...
If it still fails then chances are you have a routed modem...

got it to work. you were right. i had a modem router thingie connected to a router.
so i set the router to dmz through the modem router and then routed the proper port to my home pc.
Thanks a lot guys
And nouse knows if i had to call my isp to find out what the problem might have been... i owuldn't get it done till 2012

Yeah you can probably make it anything you want it to be but after I got that shit working I left it the fuck alone it was headache enough and, I posted all that after I realized you said you figured it out - but maybe that information will be helpful to someone in the future...
