yeah i love survival <3 <3 haven't touched anything else yet. only got two golds though, really separates the wheat from the chaff, teammate wise. |
Yeah, my high on Lighthouse is 5:18. We got 6:20 on No Mercy Heli Pad. It's funny because it's really just like the old NM in the beginning. But then you see 2-3 smokers and many hunters and it's not the same anymore! LOL

Flamethrower as well. Especially on higher difficulties where friendly fire is pretty much enough to down you.

The game needs those non linear maps they said they had first implemented but decided to shaft because it was too confusing. Seriously, WTF?
Non linear maps = fun.

When the SDK comes out in May, custom campaigns will be plentyful. I'm especially looking forward to play the Dawn of the Dead campaign, made my Darth Death (I think his name his, can't remember).

I'm just worried that it'll be to late. This has happened with other games before... The SDK comes out way to late, and by then, everyone has moved on...
This game has so much potential for modders, I really hope it'll turn out well. |
I knew about 12 people who played this all the time...including me about 20 something hours a week at least, now, all those people, including me, haven't touched the game in ages. I'll prob pick it up again if any mods come out but...seeing as how they were retarded and delayed it and almost a year later, people have moved on, not saying good shit won't come but im sure it's lost quite a bit of users.

Yeah... the DLC is good, but it's not good enough to warrant a 6 month wait time.
I mean... how the hell was it possible for it to take that long?
It's 15 maps cut out of existing maps, it could have probably been done in a few days, maybe a week or two with some tweaking and testing.
The game mode itself isn't complex enough to explain the long development time either.
And the 2 other campaigns enabled for versus? Some modder made that possible months ago and it was basically almost as good as the real deal with small issues that again, shouldn't have taken more than a few days to take care of.
So yeah.. if the DLC had been released maybe in january or early february it would have been much easier to swallow. And the continuous delays on the SDK are just as bad.
With the extremely limited content (including the new repetitive survival mode), the game NEEDS mods to survive.
While the DLC will most definitely have brought some more life back into the game, if the SDK doesn't come out in the next 1 or 2 weeks it will be too late and everyone will have moved on again because the survival mode isn't enough to keep people occupied.
The game definitely won't die anytime soon, but valve missed the ball on this game.
Just imagine the SDK shipping with the game, it would have been much more attractive for people to buy it and stick with the game. Now, so many people lost interest because there was simply nothing left to do.
Bottom line is.. I'm pissed, and I won't be buying any valve games at launch anymore based on the prospect of more content and an SDK in the future. Had I known that it would take them so long to get off their asses I definitely wouldn't have bought it so early.
sorry for the wall of text. had to get that crap off my mind. damn valve!

Why the fuck is it so hard for them to create NEW content ? It's a Source game by Valve ... strange. And it was/is a very successful game, I don't get what is going on.

dont understand the surprise about delays...
look at the HL2 episodes, hell really look at Valve, Steam aside HL1 is about the best thing they have done.. i didnt think HL2 was all that great with half the game taking place on a boat. TF2 wasnt very good imo (i liked ETF alot better), Portal was great but damned short. Source engine is fairly dated imo as well, though it scales really well and thats something.

american time, not GMT, GMT = greenwich mean time = London. So it will be 12:00 EST or EST+1,+2 and that's 17:00 - 19:00 GMT

i got this from the gf for my birthday, i would have gotten it myself, but im sadly stuck with 56k where i live with no broadband options other than G3 (and cant handle the caps, ahem). she bought it retail.
can anyone tell me if its possible to install it without updating it automatically via steam? i select do not update and it does it anyways, maybe its dl'ing the .exe i dunno. so basically i install it and its fucked cause it tries to update automatically despite my preferences. steam is awful on 56k, if you pause it it just continues downloading, i got to 60% once and went back and it was at 0, lol.
and another thing, the split screen stuff, is it in the current build? what i wanna do is play it co-op with the gf, me on my pc and her on the TV with a xbox controller via my 8800gt, is this possible?

Why don't you try if the splitscreen works, there are guides to help you. No second PC for LAN ?
Anyway to avoid using steam you have these options (you can get these from the steam underground forum)
1) UCL or another launcher
2) Using a custom executable + RevEmu
3) Using RevLoader
4) Use the cracked file(s) from skidrow
If you think your installation is fucked with steam trying to update and failing, you can use Phoenix, sisinstall or another tool to unpack the sis/sid files from your game dvd
