Taking away shadows in this game does wonders for me. But yeah, goes without saying that it's poorly optimized.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

I think the engine is very cpu heavy, it ran very poorly on my old 3ghz athlon x2. Now I'm on a core-i7 @4ghz and i'm getting like 40+fps all the time with highest settings except for antialiasing.

That is utterly unacceptable as well.. rediculous. not cpu heavy more useless coding.

I'm sorry, but I'm with moose on this. A fucking i7 at FOUR GIGAHERTZ and you're getting 40fps WITHOUT AA!?

Jesus H. I'm beginning to regret wasting my time downloading these now. Rolling Eyes All games/expansions installed, about to update now. I hope the Posden mini-image works with the newest DT Lite.

Low settings isn't "fine" to me, I'd rather just play the superior NWN1. Or let me guess, you run it maxed? Rolling Eyes

all things on max , only shadows are 256

NWN2 and the expansions ran fine here on a 8800GT + E8500 (both stock clocked). Medium to high settings, 1440x900. As said before shadows kill this game. Either set it on low or medium (I can't remember the specific options right now).

Thanks guys! Max settings, 4xAA, 1280x1024, Far Shadows enabled, no v-sync, Shadow qualities set to LOW -- 45-75fps. More than acceptable! Let's just see what happens in fights >_>

So, it seems almost one year delay wasn't for nothing. Atari succeed as for now no working release on the Net. Bought it myself.

I haven't had time but I was also curious about that so I started the plugin installer and it asks for a serial number, seems to be SecuROM but not certian.

Funnily enough I also tested Universal Extractor on it which reported it as a 7-zip archive and promptly extracted the content, could play it as a regular module after moving the files about a bit. Very Happy
(Why did noone ever test that before?)

EDIT: Clever system, there's a authentication check when attempting to play the module.
(Shouldn't be impossible if it's something simple.)

EDIT: Seems to be just a key check without activation, there's a custom INI in the user folder where NWN2 stores settings and such containing this key, seems that's how it's authenticated and without really modifying the module files it can't be removed.

Seems like there are two data files installed, one is encrypted and one is not. With the check occuring when NWN2 is running, looks like this can easily be solved with some kind of loader...

I own the addon and there's a release by a group albeit it seems the number of times a serial number has been used is tracked somehow so it's not usable due to the amount of people having activated it via the same serial.

I haven't tried much else from from how I understand it the Westgate.ini file with the serial number in it is checked by the module when starting it and if it's verified (This might happen online but I haven't tested that.) then it starts loading and lets you play.

This is somewhat similar to the premium module system for NWN1 albeit with a few differences.
(You can access the actual campaign and module files but as mentioned above they might not be easy to modify or might even be encrypted albeit the game can read them.)

There's a review from IGN in the above link, might be useful albeit I've only just started with the "adventure module" myself so I can't say much about it.

I also didn't like zehir but mow is really good in my opinion. If you liked mask of the betrayer you will probably also like mow.

I'm quite far now, the module is definitely worth the 10 bucks. It shouldn't be judged as a full expansion though (which some reviews seem to do), it's a bit amateuristic compared to Obisdian's efforts. But that's understandable and the pricing shows it. The engine is really, really getting old though. Hopefully they won't try to squeeze another expansion out of it. And the cutscenes, my god they're bad. I don't remember NWN2 having such weird and crappy cutscenes.

So it's worth the 10 dollars, but it isn't as polished and great as say MotB.

lol Very Happy i honestly wasnt trying to brag, i only said that because i didnt think it was as badly optimized as people say, i cant run the witcher at full setting without it stuttering a bit in the city but i dont often see people complaining about that game Razz

altho now that i think of it this did come out quite a while before the witcher

Dude, what the fuck? You've got an E8600 and a fucking GTX-280 .. and you're saying the game runs fine so it mustn't be as unoptimised as we say? Yeah, that makes perfect sense honest Razz

Oh and FYI; The Witcher runs 60fps at all times.
