new indie game
http://www.quelsolaar.com/love/index.html
it's basically a multiplayer (200 ppl) FPS in a (procedurally) changing world, you can build all kinds of stuff, alter the world geometry, occupy AI-controlled fortresses etc.
Screenies (gotta love the art style):

In before "OMG grafix suxx" and "that looks gay lol" kiddies.
And yeah, that game looks like it maybe could be on the level of Dwarf Fortress when it comes to awesomeness. When you take into account that the game is pretty much developed by a single guy it's even more impressive. Emergent and procedural is the way to go IMHO. I've played so many games through my days that most of the AAA feels awfully boring and trite since it's more often than not "been there, seen that" unless the design, gameplay or story is truly stellar. Really looking forward to feeling how this game might play.

Sounds and looks really cool, but the P2P is a reason I'll never get to play it.

Just watched the gameplay video, love the gfx, they're unique. From what I've gathered about the game, it's kinda like 200-player co-op, right?
The base-building and radio stuff and everything looks cool too. I like the idea of hacking the enemy bases.

By the way, just read the guy's blog, dunno why I never did that before. It blew my mind. He is pretty much everything the shitty game industry of today isn't. I want to have his babies.

Sigh. I really tried to like it, I really did. The idea sounds cool, the gameplay looks fun and the setting - of being able to build your own world - is incredible. So why don't I like it? The graphics.
Now wait, hear me out. NOT the graphics themselves - those I actually really like - but that goddamn annoying and AWFUL "dust" filter nonsense. The entire world looks like it's under a constant dust-storm barrage and, I'm sorry, flame me all you want; I do NOT like it.
Remove that dust and I'll check the game out. Leave it there? Well, I guess the game just isn't for me.

Maybe is a gfx option that you can turn on/off, like most other post-processing effects in many other games.
Game looks interesting, any hint at a release date?

It's a game play element making wind visible, wind which is used to power windmills to generate power for your gadgets. The stronger the wind the more power you get. Or so I've heard.

How does that make a difference? Most game programmers are single anyway.

I hope there's an option to turn it off.

If there's not an option to turn it off, I'm sure it could still be modded out. I kinda agree with you, I think it looks great, but it's also in the way of everything else.

Mildly interesting concept, but certainly not enough to warrant a P2P scheme. As a free multiplayer it might be a relative success.
