Gold Box Series - Pool of Radiance and everything from there on. And YES: with an old-fashioned turn-based combat, non pausable combate, no "skateboard-kiddy-on stereoids" realtime combat.

Ultima 7 - They made a milestone with those lovely details in a living world, baking bread, every person had a house, went for breakfast and luch, to the pub at its time...and after that...nothing! So many people loved this shit but the companies produced mainstream bull with dead worlds - ok, gothic was an attempt, but not as detailed as U7.

Paradroid - 3D anyone?

Dragonstrike - AD&D Dragonriding simulator in 3D. I loved letting that Dragon eat people.

Arcanum.

Dragons Breath (Dragon Lord).

Demons winter.

Tunnels and Trolls: Crusaders of Khazan.

Wizadry series.

Ultima Underworld.

And....SPELLJAMMER - Elite + D&D= sweeet!

...Fuck, i am old...

Yeah it's sad that this never really evolved in RPG's, Bioware still make RPG's where the NPC's will stand still day and night (oh forgot they've removed day/night cylcles too now...) at once place..

Closest we have is Gothic and Oblivion or maybe Sims ( Wink )

oh shit... what game is that stemot?. Is that a new AvP?. I knew of the Aliens Colonial Marines game due out this year or next, and a Aliens RPG in the making... it's not any of those too is it as I can see preds in the screenshots and the screenies look sexy!.

Edit: haha no matter I just saw the text 'Aliens vs Predator' doh!. Sweet that looks really nice, hopefully it will have the playability of the original titles by Monolith.. but is that for PC too?. Would much rather play that with M/K setup then over the ps3.

Yeah, it's AvP 3 currently in development at Rebellion (of the first game) and as for as I know, it's going to be a PC, PS3 X360 game.

Absolutely. Glad to see someone else has some memories regarding the game.

Also, a Metal Fatigue remake could dominate everything if done right. That game was pretty unique at the time. It still has my vote for the coolest ending in a game too.

I saw this thread and thought "Nothing! I want new games not more sequels!".

But then happened to look and see that and had my mind completely changed. I loved LBA, one of the best games ever made.

Would love to see it updated for today.

Also the Monkey Island series by Lucas Arts would be interesting if remade with Dreamfall graphics and style.

I loved the MI series but they ran their course. The humour started to become too predictable and cliche by the end.

I think it ended at the right time, if not a game too late, and another would just weaken the memories of it.

It was never about the graphics it was the humour, so new graphics wouldn't add to it anyway's.

Same with LBA above, however that game would benefit immensely from modern physics engines so it's a little different IMHO.

Well most stuff has been said already but I would like to strike a deal for a whole genre. Flight sims Wink

I'd like all the good old sims to get a sequel. Everything from F-14 Fleet Defender and Gunship to US Navy Fighters and Strike Commander. It's sort of sad as it is currently with like one new good flightsim per 3-4 years Sad

Ultima 6 did almost everything Ultima 7 did, but before, so it is that game that should rightfully be called a milestone.

Get your point though. They do not make games like this anymore. Gfx progress...yes, gameplay in decline...yes.

Ultima 6 was some graphical/gameplay-wise quantumleap for the ultima series, as long as martian dreams and savage empire. Actually they had a daily schedule for every person in the game even earlier in the series (ultima 4/5 for sure) but things like taking a plate from the table etc was possible in U6 first, correct. U7 was just the polish over everything with being able to interact with nearly everything (open that drawer from grandfathers clock, forging useless spoons and knifes etc). Putting meat on a stove or fire made it being roasted...etc. And in cold areas they actually needed to dress up or complained about freezing...

Plus food. The chars actually became hungry, eating wasnt just some kind of lame "healing", they needed to eat or were complaining and eventually die of starvation. It was such a joy to pack food, torches etc before planning a dungeon trip - why do they think RPG gamers today are too stupid for such a level of reality. Instead they simplify everything.

Completely missed that one, hopefully it'll have plenty of blood & guts (tho not likely in these pussy politically correct days Sad).

BG3 is already in the works.

Play through ToB again, my god I spent countless hours with that. NWN1 was decent too. NWN2 can fuck off.

Or better yet, get Baldur's Gate Trilogy & BiG World Project, and play the whole saga seamlessly and with all the huge mods (Darkest Day etc.) working with each other. Smile

unless it has atari on the the box it's not going to be shit. Atari owns the rights to D&D, not only that but Black Isle is gone

On December 8, 2003, in the midst of serious financial difficulties, Interplay laid off the entire Black Isle Studios staff.[5] By then, most members had moved on to found Obsidian Entertainment.

I hated NWN2, but Bioware is making Dragon Age, which looks like it would be a good spiritual successor to BG2. Although it's not gonna be the same world and no D&D rules. Now that I think about it, I've gotten tired of D&D rules and motherfucking dice throw calculations, AC and whatever.

My fucking god, BG2 was epic. Not even gems like KOTOR2,Mass Effect and the witcher can come close to that epicness.
