Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (ファイナルファンタジーVII アドベントチルドレン ,Fainaru Fantajī Sebun Adobento Chirudoren?) is a 2005 CGI film directed by Tetsuya Nomura and Takeshi Nozue and produced by Yoshinori Kitase and Shinji Hashimoto. It was written by Kazushige Nojima and the music was composed by Nobuo Uematsu. Advent Children was the first announced title in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series.

The film is based on the highly successful 1997 console role-playing game Final Fantasy VII. It is set two years after the events of the game, and follows Cloud Strife as he unravels the cause of a mysterious plague called "Geostigma" that has beset the population.

this is the new version of FF7:AC. It's some kind of "extended" version of FF7 AC

I couldn't find any other threads about FF7:AC...so ...i made my own thread Very Happy.

I'm waiting for a japanese version with english subs...

why does it actually say 2005 in the title? and eng dub, even though the US version isn't out yet? seems kinda odd to me

Do you know how extended exactly?

Mmmmhh... just found this information on IMDB:

Quote:

Advent Children Complete feels like a different movie. Whereas I felt that the orginal version was just numerous cut scenes joined together to form a movie, FFVII:ACC actually feels like a proper movie with a story to tell. Characters are fleshed out, things make sense, and the extended fight scenes are really cool, the last being a little more violent then the original. As well as some rearranged scenes, I noticed new music too, and characters that I'm sure didn't have a speaking role in the original do now.

If you really enjoyed the first but were wanting more because you felt it was lacking, you need to check it out.

The Japanese version has been out for about 5 days now, probably longer, this IS the English version.

Found the NOVO release on Usenet, uploaded 5hrs ago apparently .. but mother of GOD!

Final.Fantasy.VII.Advent.Children.Complete.2005.Bluray.VC1.720P.5.1.WM V-NOVO

collection size: 9.11 GB, parts available: 4563 / 4563

9.1GB for a 720p movie. Ouch. No wonder I usually stick to DVD-Rips >_>

WMVHD, BD5/BD9 and all the other wannabe HD standards are dogshit. Always make sure that you are geting Bluray.x264 releases, they are encoded with the best settings and provide the best quality for the file size.

For example,
The.Wrestler.720p.BluRay.x264-REFiNED = good
The.Wrestler.2008.720p.BD5.x264-DOWN = bad

Can't believe that there are people (and I mean normal people, not some 13 year old wapanese emos) that actually find something in this stupid ass franchise where guys look like pussies and carry huge ass swords in order to magnify the fantasies of the emos, and the level of dialog is almost as deep as in an average bollywood movie.

i can't believe there are (normal?) people that come on internet forums attempting to post clever insults towards people in hoping that they incite a "flame war," if you wanna call it, for no reason.

I've liked FF games since FF7, but i wouldn't say the characters are supposed to look "emo" like you said. It's like the old japanese anime-spikey hair style that has been around in Japanese cartoons a long time before a bunch of fruity American boys started trying to look like girls.

but yeah...i like this movie Smile i want to see it badly but dont wanna spend $30

im just going to wait and buy it. the movie is dumb as shit with zero plot (kinda like the game, bwahahah man it sucked) but it is a visually amazing movie with just the PERFECT amount of action for what im looking for in this kind of empty movie, so yeah... this film is all about the eye candy and i intend to get the best possible version.. so ill be buying.

i tried getting a part of the ctrlhd version, but my god those twits cant rip worth a shit, it looked ugly... so nah, not gonna waste time, just gonna buy the bluray when its released.

i can't believe i enjoyed this more than that other ff movie Sad
and the other ff movie was awesome.

this one had that fantastical action which is all cool. people flying and jumping and slashing. it's all cute Very Happy and the action is vivid.

it's not about being emo and wapanese and gay or faggy to like this. style and art animation is cool in this one.

I have no doubts about the quality of the animation... I just wondered whether people actually find something in it's weak plot, dialogs and gameplay as an RPG.

what the fuck how can anybody say this series has a weak plot/dialog, especially VII. I seriously have to question if you've actually played the thing, it's not even close to being overhyped.

IMO ... VII is overhyped, but the series in general? Epic and anyone who thinks otherwise is just a great big silly-head!

I don't like VII that much but I still think it's pretty much RPG perfection, I don't really get why people seem to disagree with that but ok opinions but calling the dialog, story weak is pretty fucking retarded to me.

all of these files have their use...

x264 mkv = HTPC
BD5/BD9 = PS3/standalone BR player
WMVHD = x360

you should download whatever fits your needs best, and yes, the x264 mkvs are the best but then again they are not constrained by having to be played from a console.

to be honest, pretty much all jrpgs need serious editing.

virtually every line is repeated like 3 or 4 times, and a lot of the dialogue is absolutely cringeworthy.. ok so its probably a translation problem, but while the storys tend not to really interest me, to say the dialogue in games like ff7 and xenogears (only throwing that one in because its the WORST offender ive ever played) are really quite bad

also, the characters are seriously un-fucking-likable. i CHEERED when that dopey chick got pig-stuck by that long haired git, she was THAT horrible.

The only JRPGS I've played were FF7, crisis core and Grandia... All on my PSP during boring times in the army, and I found them all equally dumb... Especially Grandia or "the game that never ends".
They don't come even close to western RPG masterpieces like Baldur's gate 1/2, Fallout, Icewind dale etc.
Yahtzee already summed up this idea better than me on one of his videos, I just don't remember which.

my favorite RPGS were back in the days when it was just Squaresoft. Those games like FF7,8, and 9, and Chrono Trigger/ Cross were all classics. But then they had to merge into SquareEnix and instead of focusing on making memorable games like they used to, it seems like now the main goal is "Lets see how much we can market all of our series, on different consoles so we can make as much money as possible...forget about whether the game is any good or not.."

I didnt like FF10 so much because of all its "mushyness" but then when FFX-2 came out i was like...ok, wtf...The target audience switched to teenaged japanese girls i guess, because that damn sure wasn't meant to be played by any man.

As for American RPGS id say Fallout 1-2, Daggerfall,Diablo 1.(still prefer FF7 overall tho)

I got mine off a torrent site, since it's not on Usenet yet (I took your advice, guys, and dumped that HDWMV version)

This one is a 1080 MKV version, both English and Japanese voices. Stupendously good quality and the film itself? E P I C !! This is by far the best version of Advent Children yet. Tons and tons of new scenes, voices, back story - it really does live up to the name; "Complete" It's amazing in every way and I'm STILL only half way through the film. Got a raging headache, so heading to bed now but I'll resume watching in the morning and let you know what I think Smile

So far though, it's truly epic. I just wish it was coming to DVD so I could buy it, like I bought the original.

yeah this one actually feels like a "Complete" movie, not to be corny or anything. But they describe the background story so much better, and the characters seem to connect much better.

gahh...sucks that the english voice actors are horrible. Except for when Marlene impersonates Barrett...that was funny. Time for me to hunt down the Jap version...

yeah, i have this one (there is subs for it also)

only problem is my computer can't play 1080p movies lol...so i have a choice of crappy English voice in 720p, or super-choppy low framerate in 1080p...

I wish there was some type of codec or videoplayer that concentrated all my cpu power, ram, and gfx power towards playing HDmovies.
