Last few days my 360 controller is constantly flashing (all 4 lights at the same time) it still works and if i unplug it and plug it back in it goes back to how it should be (1 light on constantly). After a while it will start flashing again, not really a huge problem since it still works but it's a bit annoying, is it trying to tell me something or is there any way to stop it happening?

read the manual:
one light in each corner (1 or 2 or 3 or 4)- player number identification
rotating lights (32 ,14,32,14) - motors will be turned off to save battery time
rotating lights moving up down (12,34,12,34) - rumble motors are broken
blinking lights (1234,1234,1234,1234) - low battery

numbers indicate the corner
Code:
   1 2
    X
   3 4

Aye, I get the blinking lights all the time lately .. and it's insanely annoying. I think the battery in the controller needs replacing (it IS over a year old) as the damn thing needs recharging every few hours now.

I get the 32, 14, 32, 14 rotating a lot too, basically - as you say - the battery is dying so it turns off the rumble to conserve power. REALLY annoying as the lights are so bright and are clearly visible out the corner of my eye while I'm gaming.

MS battery packs are good they can last for over 4 years or more, the problem is the XBOX PAD, the battery is still drained even after your pad is OFF, the best way is to remove the battery pack after your xbox play time. Another bad design, no off switch on the pad.

To recharge correctly your xbox has to be ON (takes 45 min in screensaver mode , 2h when you play a game with rumble off), in OFF mode also called SLEEP MODE it will falsely light the GREEN diode when in reality your battery pack is empty.

I know the 4 lights blinking are supposed to mean the battery is low but I'm using a wired controller, there is no battery.
