|
 |
EA's videogame, Dante's Inferno, in which players journey through hell, will be turned into a live-action film. Dan Harris (co-writer of "X-Men 2" and "Superman Returns.") is set to write Universal Pictures' "Dante's Inferno", Strike Entertainment's Marc Abraham and Eric Newman are producing with EA Entertainment. EA's Patrick O'Brien and game creator Jonathan Knight are also involved in the development of the film. Universal acquired the title in the fall in a four-studio bidding battle before the EA game even had a formal title.
Universal is also developing a live-action version of the EA game "Army of Two," with Scott Z. Burns ("The Bourne Ultimatum") writing the script for producer Scott Stuber. EA is developing its properties "The Sims" with Fox and producer John Davis and "Mass Effect" with producer Avi Arad.

wait...what? the sims?
its a shitty concept for a game, and its a shitty concept for a movie!
kinda makes sense that mass effect would get the movie treatment, but i think dantes inferno is probably more interesting to me than the others...
but otherwise, wisemans gears of war is the only game movie im looking forward too, i think. and maybe bioshock, im still kinda iffy on that one... but gears of war should be amazing - its definately got the right guy behind it.

but the sims is essentially... make a character... and guide them through 'life'...
your basically sitting at a pc, and your wasting time playing a life simulation game instead of.. oh i dunno.. actually HAVING a life... thats why i find the concept as a game so utterly pathetic
and as for a movie, 'sims' is basically a blank slate for a movie. virtually ANY movie could be a 'sims' movie, which is why its such an utterly pointless thing to make a movie out of, thats all im saying...
