Sorry. I've been away from gaming for a couple of years and I can not belive that this is not resolvet yet.
Anyway, do I understand correctly if I say that ArmA II will be the "real" OpFp 2 ?
... but even worse, it releases satan.

Are you sure?
What I mean is, I know that Codemasters will release a game called OpFp 2 - but when I say "real" I mean, what is the game that Bohemia is developing going to be called?
As I understand it there is only one game comming out. And that is called ArmA 2.
Or is there another comming out as well?
... but even worse, it releases satan.

ArmA2 is the game developed (or is being developed) by the original developers of Ofp.
Ofp2 is created by some new devs.

Arma 2 is the real sequel to the opf series. The new opf is created by codemasters since they have the patent on the name of the game.

Operation Flashpoint was created by Bohemia Interactive and it was published by Codemasters. Bohemia then split from Codemasters, took the Operation Flashpoint code but not the name. They then went on to produce a 'sequel' to Operation Flashpoint which they called Armed Assault. It's considered to be Operation Flashpoint 1.5 due to the overwhelming similarities - thanks to the fact it's the same code base. Armed Assault 2 will be the true sequel to Operation Flashpoint and by extension Armed Assault.
Operation Flashpoint 2 has nothing to do with the original Operation Flashpoint except that they own the rights to the name and are being published by Codemasters.
I can't say I'm looking forward to either game, but I know I'll be playing Armed Assault 2.

Ofp 2 will be released on consoles too, so it will be simplified i think. It must be simplified for console players.
ARMA2 ftw.

ArmA2 is also being developed as a PC game that will be ported to the consoles.

The news came when all Game retailers changed the release date to 22/05/09. The question springing up last month was that it might not make it for the summer and could be released winter 09, but good news for OF2 fans! Get Pre-Ordering! |

And this is also not in-game footage, this is pre render or cinematic.

Well i am glad to. And not because i have something against this game. I believe this game if it was release tomorrow it will be a bug infested game. So the more time they use to revised the better it would be. I don't want to buy a beta game i would rather wait for the full product.

I dont see it being anything but a cheap shot at an open play area, which will undoubtably turn into a hang on its really zoned enclosed they lied.. etc etc.. at least arma has some knowledge about this type of gaming,, and improved on it no end with arma 2 it seems.

Well i must admit that i am looking more forward to arma then opf 2. But if you ask me, even if they made 10 opf games from 10 different studios i wouldn't mind. I don't believe in fanboysm. Over the years i have learned to keep my mind opened cause of the many disappointing games that have been released. Too many times i have been surprised by a game which i wasn't even interested in.

Yeah point taken, but ofp2 studio is trying to be and do something they never had a hand in right? Ill still go with arma for the ofp experience over ofp2 studio trying to compete in the same league..
Not saying it wont or cant be good, or pull a magic rabbit out its ass, but at same time ive seen many fps shooters look the same and been promised to be different, and ofp2 to me looks like a clever fps shooter put inside some sort of fake apparantly large sandbox. I know what arma has achieved along with ofp, and ill stick to my guns until i get a demo of ofp2 and to see if its gone console mad or not as well..

Looked like BF2. Since they're going for "technological superiority" I'm unimpressed.

It looked awesome. Anyone that keep saying arma2 will be much better than ofp2 have forgotten about arma when it just got released. It sucked ass. Most of the stuff bohemia promised about it wasnt in the game like destroyable houses and terrain etc. And what about the gigantic lagfest?
Im not that sure Arma2 will be that revolutionary until ive tried it. With that im not saying ofp2 will be all that either. I think the game that got coop in it will get the GOTY award.
