Hi all
the front & top USB ports on my Pc case which are connected to the 2 x 2.0 usb headers on my ep45-ds3 motherboard aren't working properly whenever i connect ext hdd or usb memory stick the whole pc freezes for few seconds & when they do work they take ages to read or write anything even if its a 10mb file while any of the 8 usb ports on the back of my pc work at full speed & never cause any problems !!!! any ideas what the cause of this strange problem ??

i'm 100% sure both cables are connected to the 2 x usb headers on my motherboard.in fact the front usb port is on a multi card reader which works flawlessly so this means connection to the motherbaord usb headers isn't the cause of the problem.

I have a similar problem where I have PCI- USB extended in my device manager which i believe is usb 2.0. I have checked my BIOS and it states USB is set to both 1.1 and 2.0. however i plug in my ex harddrive and the buubble pops up saying it can perform faster if I plug it into a usb 2.0 port. I have tried every port on the PC but always get the same message. Any ideas how to fix this. Running on windows VISTA home.
