Ok, so i've had this Thermaltake Kandalf for a few year's now, not the armour, but the original Kandalf, and frankly i want a new case, i wsa thinking about getting the Antec twelve hundred, it's a bit pricey, but if it last's, and keep's the general temp's of my hardware down, i am willing to sink the extra cost.

Ideally i would like steel case, like my Kandalf, and obviously maximum airflow, that's why i was thinking this Antec, but any Recommendation's from current user's or other brand's is very much appreciated.

Thank's

Silverstone TJ07 ALL THE F'n way.
Or Lian-Li for the best quality there is.

Only worked with the Antec P-182 of my Son, and i must say it is one of the best cases for that kind of money, it's like 130€ or so and its super well built, really good cable management and also dust free. My Son uses it like 24/7...opened it like six or so months after I built it and no dust what so ever.

^ yeah have a CM690 myself and no complaints (except maybe the way they made the front panel - the only known way to get it open without prior first-hand experience is to fight with the fucker until you reach the "eh screw it, if it breaks I don't care" stage and rip it out with all your might Very Happy ). Doesn't come with any dust filters tho, so if you're lazy you might want to get some.

I intend to use the addition space in this Antec for water cooling, already have all my water cooling bit's planned out, every step, and this Anttec look's like it will have enough room to accomodate water cooling.....i hope...

How big is your Rad? 2x120 or 3x120. And do you plan cool CPU and GPU + maybe the mobo?. I am asking as I think you might have to go for an outside solution if you are going for a 3x120 rad with that Antec case. And if you are cooling both CPU and GPU you will need a 3x120 I would say. That case have holes for tubing so an outside solution is no issue, just takes some space behind the case that's all.

That's why I love that Silverstone as you can fit both a 2x120 + a 3x120 in the lower compartment and you still have space for the PSU standing up blowing air sideways through the mesh. Actually that Silverstone is what I will get for my next build, I don't think there is a better case on the market for watercooling at the mo. There are big towers from Lian Li but they all need heavy modding to work well with watercooling, at least for a completely internal solution.

As you can see in this pic

that case could house a 2x120 rad...but that is maybe just enough for cooling the CPU...and not so well I would say.

I'm going to 3x120, probably outside mounted radbox, cooling CPU/GPU possibly N/B but i want to keep to a single loop for now, so it'll be CPU/GPU for start's, 3/8 tubing, compression fitting's.

lol i agree but after some searching i found the correct way to open the stiff front panel.

look here :

i also i agree about getting some filters i have bought 2 120mm metal mesh filters for the 2 120mm fans on the main side panel, all other fans i have are blowing the air out of the case so i dont need filters for those,oh the front blue led fan sucks the air in but this one comes already with filter .

CM 690 Chassis correct fan configuration for optimal airflow:

Ok man, in that case I guess the Antec is not a bad choice. I would just not use the blue light Wink .

It for sure is value for money and it looks sort a simple and from what I know the build quality of Antec (in that price range) is excellent.

Having to order a new Zalman VGA cooler, the new one, with the big body, and fan in the middle, my GFX card is idling at 62C, but i've recently changed the thermal pad's, had 8 new pad's on, some of the old one's are left on, because there were not enough pad's, strangely enough, it was idling around 57C before i changed the pad's, maybe temperature of the room has risen enough to change the temp's.

Well since you are looking for recommendations I thought I'd share what I have now and went from, since it was from a similar case as the one you are looking at.

I went from the antec 900 to the Lian-Li PC-A70B. The Antec was a nice case for the time and much roomier than my previous case but the Lian-Li just is heads n shoulders a better case, and worth every penny. The things about the antec that led me to the lian-li, besides just needing more space to work with, is both the noise and the appearance. The noise I think was mostly from the top (Humongous) exhaust fan, which I am just not convinced does a whole lot to cool the system. And at first I liked the black plastic, stealth-bomber-looking exterior but just got tired of it over time and wanted a little more subdued look. Here is a pic of the end result, for now(excuse shittiness of pic):

Anyways the PC-A70B is just a lil pricier but I def recommend it. You get what ya pay for as far as cooling, silence, and looks go. And at some point I am looking into doing the WC thing as well. Which is nice that it is so tall(got a couple inches on the 1200) and you can change out parts like the top(tons of space for radiator):

Also here is somone's WC project with this case, end result looks pretty damn nice, hopefully my bro(the WC expert) can help make mine look this clean Very Happy

It may look ugly, but i think, the major plus factor is plenty of room for water cooling, which is a necessity. how is the cooling performance of that case?

Meh, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. or modder in this case =P

And yeah, cooling kicks ass with it. GPU temps dropped ~ 5c from the same positioning/cooling as with the 900. With the cpu, hard to tell exactly the change since I swapped out from stock cooler to TRUE 120 when I changed cases. I have seen much cooler results than others with the same heatsink and better fans so I'm thinking the case is a pretty huge factor as well. Even now at 3.8ghz, my temps are ~ 30 at idle, and ~ 55 full load(newest prime running 2 hrs small ffts). Used to hit near 70 with stock cooling/stock speeds. And my system temp never gets above about 40, even when playing games for long periods of time, which is nearly 10c lower than the old setup.

So yeah, feels like I took my puter parts from an oven to an icebox Razz

Could you maybe link me some Lian-Li Case's or similair build quality really need to make sure i get the best possible case for W/C and airflow for regular fan's for start's before i drop my money into it.

On a side note, Cox, i'm going to get that Accelero 8800, chart wise, fantastic product for half the price, thank's for that bro, appreciate it.

I'm currently using a Cooler Master HAF 932, great case and has the fan on top like the Antec Twelve Hundred, also has holes in the back for water cooling and I'm pretty sure I read that you can move the back panel around if you prefer the PSU on top, even has a little area on top for things like remotes etc.

Just a quick side note, my graphic's card (in sig) i spoke to an exchange shop, they will give me £82 pound's for my GTS, and if i take in my old processor and mobo, i can get the 8800 GTX 758MB(£135), or for 10 pound's more than my exchange(£92), the 8800GT 512MB the thin one, Any advise as for which one to go for?

EDIT: Traded in and got the 8800GT 512 XFX(G92) just need a case now, i'll get a aftermarket cooler for this card later, but most important part is case now.

Budget for case os £150 (-£20+)

That's where I bought my case, they have most the lian-li models. Pretty decent prices and they do custom windows/modifications, too. Not sure if it would be very economical shipping-wise, tho. Still, gives ya an idea of the models with pricing and such.

8800GT is a bit old now, and I think I heard the G92 had problems, I would just get a more up-to-date card now, but oh well if your on a budget it's still running great for me, only COD WaW had problems and I think that was the game itself not the GFX, ingame it ran fine but the FMV's were laggy.
