This turns demo into full version?

No. It makes the full version installable without having to go through STEAM (simply using a loader.exe pointed to your STEAM files).

So if that lucky bastard that got his game early would surf these forums.....

Nah it's for unpacking the retail DVD and bypassing the various Steam checks.

Here's the modified Simpack utility to unpack those archives, should work with the command lines that Epsilon provided.

EDIT: Immunity posted before I did. Smile

Surely the game data isn't a mere 2.34gb? , it's not the demo, thats further down the list.
Well it's possible, looking at the Fallout 3 content is only 2.14gb and as far as I remember that was quite a big installation.

Someone at the TWCenter forums mentioned 15gb for full game, which is probably more than a little exaggeration, but the earlier TW games haven't exactly been small, either.

Yeah I looked into it and apparently the real content is close to 9gb, I guess we'll see if theres any updates on steam. Or perhaps Ragtag can clarify the file names and sizes.

Its a shame that publishers don't realize how much money they are losing THEMSELVES via holding on to finished titles like this for bullshit marketing reasons.

Will I buy it? Sure.
Will I pirate it first because I'll be able to play a week before the bullshit release date? Fuck yes.

All this could be avoided if they simply got their shit together and released the game when it was done instead of all this "strategic" release date bullshit.

Well while I do agree that quick releases would be awesome there is a reason for them to keep to set dates.

I don't have any figures but pre-marketing and hype is a huge part of sales, most games make their sales during the first couple of weeks rather than during the course of a whole year. If you watch stuff like the top ten games sold every week you'll see that new releases shoot up and stay there for a month or so and then they disappear. (Isn't true for all games, some stay there forever like WoW and Guitar Hero but that's because of different reasons)

If you think about it, when do you see advertisement for games? Just when they are released and a few weeks after that it stops.

All those ads on websites, in magazines, on TV as well as all the reviews done by gaming magazines and websites are scheduled to get unleashed more or less at once. Loads of planning AND money goes into that. You also have to consider the logistics which goes into shipping all the physical games.

If they just released it without much more than a newsupdate on their site and a thread on their forum then only the "hardcore fans" would know about it and even though there are quite a few of those they probably only stand for a small amount of the games sold.

That's not that much of an issue. There's no additional thing that we're going for with that sort of stuff. That's pointless. If people are going to pirate a game they're going to pirate a game. All you can do is delay the piracy, really. But that's just the nature of the beast. We are a PC developer, that's where we started, so you do what you gotta do.

Yeah, you make good games and you sell, like Creative Assembly, or do a mediocre game and blame piracy (ahem, Crytek).

Love these guys! <3

DAMN RIGHT!!

Dude, you don't understand....when I heard this game announced officially 3 years ago, I've been waiting since.
3 years of waiting bro....I'm dying to sit down and have a 12 hour run...scratch that. I'm dying to have a run until my eyes hurt and I can't stay away any longer.
2 days for that.
I'm gunna be at the store for exactly 11am (time the store opens), I'll be home by 11:30am and then the run will begin. I suspect a good 18 hour run will be the case. Sleep for 5 hours and then play again. I wanna take FULL advantage of the 2 days I booked off Very Happy
I booked wednesday and thursday off and I'm considering taking Friday off. I'm 3 weeks ahead of schedule at work so it won't be a problem...wait...gunna call the boss (the owner and my friend) now.........YES! Friday off as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH BABY!!!!!
So I gots Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and the weekend to play the proverbial shit outta this game!
NICE!!!
Now I'm 10x excited Very Happy Very Happy

And yes, like a fat kid...but a fat kid in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory (candy store is no comparison lol). Smile

This is gonna be awesome but like any other Total War title that is out there I'm gonna play it, I'm gonna enjoy it at first until the AI starts to totally annihilate me, I'm gonna play some more, get frustrated, scream and yell at my PC and then stop playing.
Damn, I just suck too much at these games! And they're freaking fun! In the beginning -.-*
Damn you Total War series! You and you're difficulty that's apparently just too high for me! Grrrr. This angers me greatly...

Epsilon, will you be willing to share updated for the game as they become available on Steam? At least until I can buy the game (have a games queue Razz)? If so, I will make a guide for people like I did with DoW2, because this already smells complicated with all these codes... Razz
