I have the classic 'power calibration error' on BOTH my dl burners:

Drive D: won't read dual layer disks [verbs] just spins up while it will write dvd5's no problem.

Drive F: It will read blank disks and write 360 coasters [the dl disk is 5.13mb is size consisting of the vannila microsoft messages in the VIDEO_TS folder.

I took them apart and used air on the lens with no success.

Was it just co-incidence that they both went at the same time?

thanks in advance

Eh? ive had recent problems with both burners on sep machines doing shit like that, and will only burn CD audio tunes. One never sees teh drive as a dvd no more shows cd on my computer explorer.

I have a feeling its cause of DT/Ashampoo/Nero/ and god knows what else thats been installed on it in past. Thing is i dont want to reinstall the OS just yet I cant be arsed even with a 4 min backup install.. Id rather know how to fix the problem personaly than cheat hehe..

Failing that both my nec cruddy burners must be broke in some ways.. Actually though even the pioneer one seems to do the same when I swapped one for test purposes.. One Xp os the other Vista 64 same problem with the burners Sad

yeah I did just that and they were as cheap as chips.
£37 for two brand new Pioneer 216D dual layer writers that thrashed everything in the Sisandra 2009 bench test.

Sooty shouts: "see you the other side of the Dollhouse!"

Sweep drops the nod.
