|
|
I've recently bought an Intel Core2Duo E8400@3Ghz and as always i've removed the heatsinkfan's (Thermaltake's Bigtyph 12VX) thermal paste with alcohol, very clean n stuff..remove the ol' CPU,putted the new one (correctly pressed lightly to fit, then the thermal paste)then putted the heatsink back in (pain in the ass!)
Now i'm lookin' at the EVEREST 5.0's temps and...there's a mystery Oo..
The other parts of the mobo (HDD,GPU..) changes constantly as normal,but..the CPU goes INTACT,no ups n downs, the CPU itself is at 28C and the 2 cores at 33!..
Am i doin anythin' wrong?,the cpu's well fitted in the socket, closed it,heatsink very well pressed and all connected!,tried "Realtemp 2.60" and says that the 2 cores are at 28 still, same with the min and max temps!...i tought the E8400 were cooler and less watt usage??..

i googled it and some persons has the same stuff..did a "Stress Test" with the Real temp (now 3.0) and this "Prime 95" togheter for 15 minutes and well, now from 28 to 32C but with Everest, still stucked.
I googled it before you wrote that, but i wanted 2 make sure if it was me or whatever,ya kno' ^^;;...
i shouldnt worry about this, right?,i mean,i DONT overclock, and i bought the E8400 so i wont bottleneck the upcomin' XFX's nvidia 260GTX.The Quads are for gaming and applz, but since i'm usin' 32bits i cant use the 4 cores until i pinnacle studios releases a 64bit version of the Dazzle Video Creator Platinum video capturer (Sorry 2 mix this in this).
Thanks for the help, but tell me i shouldnt worry about this...what would be the "real" temps now btw if i have 32C on CPU?

My 1st E8500 had a botched heat sensor, was showing temps that where totally weird, like stuck on 25c or stuck at 36c etc. But hey 28c sounds like water cooling temps there, so be happy if it's correct.
Currently running my "new" E8500 under water @ 4Ghz, get temps from 26c-35c, depending the room temperature, the Mrs has a tendency to push the thermostat way up this time of year, so currently I am at 32c.

did i mentioned i use a Thermaltake BigTyph VX12 @ 1300RPM?..for freaking 5 YEARS...
Time to change to a Zalman 9700LED X3...my father got pissed off at the BTVX12 bcz of the 4 support things (hands wont fit,the HS is H-U-G-E,while a zalman is a bit smaller in few facts,i think i've seen)
Anyways, thanks for clearing my mind with temps. No worries now^^..in a few months or something...260GTX^^.No more bottleneck probs <3

TJ Max isn't the max temp your CPU can reach, you have to add your current temp with the TJ Max to get the max your CPU can handle without frying. TJ Max basically tell you how far away the max temp of your CPU is.

any c2d cpu's tjmax is 85c, then it's forcing reboot without frying itself

My E4400 Tjmax is reported by Coretemp as 95c(this on the latest version; previous versions placed it at 100c and these temps always matched with the ones from everest and speedfan, so I assume this value is correct).

well if your c2d cpu hits 80c u should be worried
my e2200@2.9ghz hit's 75c on load, that's with shitty ass stock cooler, now if i had something (which i will in couple of days) ac freezer 7 pro it shouldn't go more than 60c on load

I bumped it to 2.6GHz(from the original 2.0) and in the last summer here, which was pretty hot, temps were around 80c.
Anyway, this is a pretty shitty C2D for overclocking... I wanted a E4300(much better OC'er) back then but they were out of stock so I had to stick with this one.
Gonna buy a decent quad-core in a few months and OC the shit out of it(Gigabyte P45 UD3R + Vendetta2... can't wait to see how far I'm gonna be able to go with a quad ).
