MLB 09: The Show improves and adds many features to the previous 08 edition.[3] The franchise and career modes are improved with Road to the Show 3.0, which updated popular mode with an all-new steal and lead-off system, and more interaction with the player's coaches; Franchise 2.0 adds several new features to its career mode including salary arbitration, waiver transactions, September call-ups, and the 40-man roster. Also receiving an update is the game's online league play, including flex scheduling to allow players to play out-of-order games, and Roster Vault option to allow gamers can create their own custom rosters and upload them online for other gamers to use. The game also allows gamers to store their favorite songs to their PlayStation 3 and assign them to be played at various points in the game, including a batter's walk-up animation. Players may also create custom taunts. |
I know what you're thinking. Baseball. Well I'm not a fan either, but I remember playing an earlier version of the series on the PC and it was a lot of fun once you got over the learning barrier. There's a demo for the latest version on the US PSN store right now, and it's a substantial one letting you play out a full game and alter various options - so if you're on the fence give it a go; just remember to play it on easy to start off and then work your way up.
Don't think it's going to turn any heads, but you should give it a try if you're a sports fan, especially if you like absorbing franchise modes. It's widely respected as one of the best baseball sims, just a shame I'd forgotten it even existed thanks to being limited to both American and PlayStation markets...
So yeah, gonna have to import this I think? I hope it won't affect the online capabilities?
