Umm, he says; "you know we're on it" not 'rollin' Confused

Indeed, the voice acting in that video is extremely good. You made it sound half-assed but there's quite a lot of effort and emotion inflected upon the words being spoken - a very rare occurrence in the world of videogames. And as for stereotypical characters it's no worse than any other game. Even something like Grand Theft Auto with production values coming out of its ass suffers from that sort of thing. I suspect it's a cheap way of differentiating between the NPC's in the thick of the game.

Quote:
"I'm sure the story will be mediocre at best"

So, lets assume it is, what does that even mean for a game which doesn't rely upon narrative? As for why some people are excited I should think that's obvious; it looks to be a very fine game, both in terms of graphical fidelity and satisfying gameplay. None of us will know until we play it for ourselves of course, but based on players impressions from the multiplayer beta and the various previews and videos I'm slowly shifting from non-plussed, and cautiously optimistic to excited myself.

That said; I'm not expecting anything that rocks the boat as far as game design is concerned - though the multiplayer features do sound interesting for a console game, especially on the PS3 which is lacking in that department.

No, my rant was toward the general need these days to have a smart-mouth, jive inspired moron, in order to please the frat boys looking for a similar experience to their showers. Seriously, if you look at any military inspired game, you always have a "buddy" with you that can't shut his mouth. Neutral

Yeah, I know - I don't disagree. I stopped playing the latest Prince of Persia for much the same reason.

Undeniably; it really reminds me of COD4 game play wise, which is not a bad thing. I don't think it'll be as special as MGS4, but it'll certainly be a really solid FPS.

Yeah there's a definite COD4 vibe to the game, and I think Killzone 2 has the potential to be a less polarizing everyman sort of game. MGS4 isn't appreciated by everyone unfortunately.

The multiplayer stuff looks pretty neat as well.
Gaining experience, unlocking classes, etc. Seems to have quite a lot to keep you coming back for more, not just some generic afterthought multiplayer mode.

I'll definitely buy this game when it's out.
Kinda surreal that it's still a month away considering reviews are popping up everywhere...

Should probably stay away from those reviews so you don't spoil everything for yourself Smile

I've just finished it... One of the best games I've ever played. The ending is kind of strange, but overall it's the best FPS since Half-Life 2 for me. I couldn't test multiplayer to much because there are only a few test servers working and only a bunch of people playing, but the single player is simply amazing. The graphics are even better than in Crysis, sound and music are wonderful - simply a must have!!

It handles a lot of detail in Killzone 2 and the game really looks amazing. I think it looks better than Crysis, but it's only my opinion it's not a fact like evolution Very Happy

From the video reviews I don't see a lot of detail in Crysis... It's better to see games for yourself. And about Gears of War - I've finished both parts, they really look fantastic, but Killzone 2 looks better for me. I don't want to start a war, so remember it's just my opinion Smile

bigboy177 - just wondering, which polish game site you're a reviewer on. I thought it might be gry-online (as it's actually the only one). And they've published Killzone 2 review just a few days ago.

EDIT - whatever, stupid me. Use google, Luke Wink

I think it's best to wait until you actually play it before making that judgement, but I expect that in the end it'll be more down to subjective taste rather then which is technically better.

Personally I value a more dynamic and active world over any special shader effects. If Killzone 2 delivers that along with it's obvious graphical fidelity then it'll certainly impress me.

Does anyone know if the environment is partially destructible comparable to Gears of War 2?

I DID play it, and I CAN make that judgement... Why does everyone here think that everyone is a liar and a cheat?!

Yes it's destructible, but only in a similar way to Gears of War 2. Actually it's the biggest issue I have with the game. There should be more interaction with the environment and more destructible stuff.

EU demo doesnt need a promo code. If you make an EU account just log into EU store and download it.

Far as the review thing goes....there aint any test servers the guys right from gamespot themselves say there IS NO MULTI on the review code they had to go to developer events. Now if a premier site like gamespot aint getting multiplayer review code i doubt anyone else is, so i remain skeptical.

[edit] eu site usually updates midday uk time i beleive US usually in the evening

No offense dvsone, but Gamespot isn't the most credible of sources.
