damn
sad news with the layoffs
i dunno , maybe it's a good thing , after the latest game in the series were complete crap it wouldnt hurt them to have some time and rethink their dipshit ideas .
on the other hand they probably scrapped any 'risky' projects , so .. au revoir any news EA game series
i dunno , but series like NFS and MOH dont have a bright future ahead .

Need for Speed getting the axe?
Spoiler: | Oh, how the mighty have fallen. It looks like the Need for Speed series has run out of gas. EP has learned that Electronic Arts has cancelled the development of new titles in the once popular racing series. The cancellation has not yet been made official by EA. We've attempted to obtain confirmation, and at this time have yet to get an official response from Electronic Arts. The franchise's removal from the gaming giant's roster follows the cool reception and disappointing sales of the latest in the franchise, Need For Speed: Undercover. The first Need For Speed launched way back in 1994 for the 3DO, PC, and original PlayStation, and would eventually become one of EA's most successful franchises, only to see decline in recent years. This could have a big impact on developer Black Box Studios and the entire Canadian gaming industry as a whole, so you better believe we'll be keeping an eye on this. |

EA has been running on fumes for a long time now. Their once amazing NHL series now sucks major donkeyballs for instance. I could go on but it would be pointless. They've forgotten all about what gaming was about.
PC, Consoles and Gaming in general is a generational thing (with exceptions obviously). So i'm guessing that the management of EA isn't into Gaming really. If that is so (i don't have any facts what so ever about the EA management i'm only going on intuition) they don't understand what makes games good.
EA reminds me of the Atari disaster, Atari went under due to the massive amount of crap that was produced for the console. EA might not go through the same thing but they to are producing a huge amount of crap.

Need for Speed NOT Dead - Criterion May Take on Next Game
Spoiler: | UPDATE:We've received a tip from someone a purported EA employ who wishes to remain anonymous. According to this source, the Need for Speed series isn't shutting down -- but EA Black Box, the development team behind recent entries into the series, "most likely" is. The source explains that EA not only scrapped their plans to open up a new studio in Vancouver, but that they also decided to close Black Box, moving the NFS and Skate teams to their much larger Burnaby studios.
The source further details the fate of Need for Speed -- he claims that one of the next entries into the series will be developed by the EA-owned Criterion Games, and will likely use the engine of their racing series, Burnout. He also claims that there are three different teams within Black Box that are responsible for developing Need for Speed titles (which is how they're able to release a new NFS title every year) -- though these three teams will likely consolidate into one, leading to less NFS releases, more continuity between said releases, and, ultimately, drastic downsizing for the NFS teams. |

It's not their fault! If you look way back, at the release of NFS HP2. Black Box did the release of the PS2 version, while the other versions (including PC) were done by EA Seattle. It EA who made them go into the Crap and Furious style of games.

Only if they managed to swap the engine with the one from Most Wanted and redevelop 96% of the game while they're at it. NFS:Undersucker is a dud and not worth patching even!

Get Eden Games to make it. It needs a decent amount of car manufacturer involvement and only use real life actors or a plot at all - if it makes sense. imo.
Undercover was such a shortcut/half assed lazy peice of game development.

The underground games and Most Wanted were awesome, but it's been going downhill for years. Carbon was kinda lame. And what about NFS Pro Shit ? Oh my god ...
And then Undercover ! Stop this shit, seriously !

How were those awesome? Only reason people praise the first installments of the "new generation" NFS games is because it was the introduction to the premise and theme of street racing/modding.
The game has gone unchanged over the course of 5 titles so those who liked Underground can't argue that the last few have sucked. It's honestly the same game with a minor theme change.

Well, for my part I have a very easy way to separate the 5 last NFS-titles: those I had fun with and those I didn't have fun with. NFS: Underground 1 & 2 + Most Wanted I had a lot of fun with. Carbon was ~okay, Pro-Street sucked and Undercover was a joke. Simple as that. Hell, Undercover used a game engine that wouldn't even be good on a PS2 these days, and it is more demanding than Most Wanted's engine times two. Sloppy coding, moronic design decisions and a big fail.

Need for Speed Undercover Patch
Quote: |
The Need for Speed Website now offers downloads of the first patch for the Windows edition of Need for Speed Undercover, along with word that owners of the Xbox 360 or PlayStation3 editions of the street racing sequel can get the new version automatically. they say now that this patch is complete, they will concentrate on producing some DLC for the game. Meantime, here is what they have to say about this patch: "When he spoke to me last week Scott said that, while patch was mainly focused on improving the frame-rate, his team worked particularly hard to get as many other fixes into it as possible. A great example of this is the new difficulty system for expert gamers. If you've played the game a lot you'll notice that the difficulty level ramps up much earlier than previously making the game much more of a challenge."

Well there's three versions to choose from, EU multi-language, US English-French-Mexican and EU French-German-Italian.
It's either the US or EU patch and I guess the EU patch is the correct one, also don't try to patch when using the cracked executable as that might cause problems .
(Will probably need new crack to work unless you own the game.)

What does the size have to do with anything ? The changes are code-related.
