Not one movie...but maybe THREE! are in the making about The Battle of Hastings 1066

Three feature films, with big-name backers and creative teams, are preparing to refight the battle of Hastings. They all plan to show the clash between Harold and William the Conqueror as the falling out of two comrades, using the trusted cinema combination of violence and contrasting love lives.

The companies planning the films include veterans of Hollywood historical epics as well as the producer of television drama ER.

The screenwriter on the second version is William Nicholson, whose numerous film scripts include Shadowlands and last year's Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

The third film, which has a working title of William the Conqueror, has an equally strong pedigree. With a $US100 million ($146 million) budget, it will be co-produced for Killer Films by Pamela Koffler, who made the Oscar-winning Boys Don't Cry.

There is nothing strange in that Hollywood does 2 films with the same theme simultaneously. Currently there are 2 films about Sherlock Holmes being done for example...but THREE!...

Anyho, being a huge history fan I am sort a looking forward to this...but which one will be the best one...I wonder

yah 1 sherlock holmes movie is all old and cute and baskervilles like, while the other is an action comic-book film with sherlock holmes being all batman like directed by guy ritchie.

I may not be no history buff or into that sort of thing, but srsly epic movies with epic battles only require epic music to look and feel epic. There aren't many epic movies with epic battles that look great without the sound on. Sad

but if you're into that sort of thing, all history and dust and people speaking with th at the end of every word, then yeh all the power to you.

But holywood fucked up some epic movies Sad
