|
 |
So I never took the time to do all the cord/wire tucking. Took me two hours. Could still look better but I still got a damn IDE drive's annoying cable. Granted I also need to do a dust clean again sometime.
Before I had all my fans hooked up to molex's so I had these y-splitters all over the place and I had assumed I needed to use the EZ Plug asus provided to help with power video cards since last time I tried I could get the card to work when I used the far away slot. Well it works fine with without it so...even less cables.
Everything will look even nicer when I get the server version of the case as it has A LOT more space to work with and my PSU cables are longer than fucking hell.

Looks better...but I would have most of the cables to come out from behind the mobo tray.
You should also consider getting all drives DVD/HD's as SATA if you want a even cleaner cable layout as they are flatter and smaller.
I also reversed my HD's so they face back=no cables visible from the front...sounds stupid maybe but I am a bit of a pedant when it comes to my PC...rather obsessed actually .
The layout of your and my case are basically identical. Will take a pic later to show you what I mean.

clean it off and your temps will probably drop 5-10 degrees
cables look better now though |
Aye, cables look a lot better (love the partitioned area in that case.. great touch) but EGADS MAN!! Seriously, clean the dust off that HS on the processor -- your temps will drop considerably AND your proc will last longer |
lol this CPU is years old. It's the 949 x2 4400+
I clean the heatsink every so often so meh, not really a problem. The layout is best done by lian li, most of their cases are that design, I love it, it isolates unneeded heat around the CPU/GPU, also with the reverse MOBO it places all your PCI stuff at the top of the case so it's easier to get to behind the case.

I was actually going to do that but my SATA's aren't long enough. needa order longer ones.

Damn. Lian-Li really are the Gods of Case Design. Don't get me wrong, I *love* my Lexa, but the niceties are external .. the inside is just like any bog-standard case I'd love a seperate partition like that for being able to store cables. Right now I just tidy the cables away into the 5" drive bays, lol. |
the main problem is the lack of space down there. I use PC Power & Cooling and they make their cables extra long. Some of mine are about 3 feet long so they arent so easy to hide lol. I plan on getting the server version of the case I have now
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112189
Has 12 HD slots, and a huge bay for the PSU and just over 2 feet tall/long
The alunimum they use is THICK. I got pissed at a video card and took it out on my case, bruised/cut up my knuckles but not a blemish on the case. The outside chasis is about 3 cd's thick
It's really nice during the winter cause of all the ventilation holes, warms your room up nicely and good to rest your feet on hehe.
As for the wheels being stable...well...I rode it around my house a couple times, didn't bend them at all and i weigh 190

in the words of borat:
"Vary nice!"
I hope i can get that clean look for once with the new case that's coming for my i7.
I have never owned a Lian Li, but they sure look nice. Maybe next time.
By the way, how's that Corsair PSU treated you? That's what i ordered this time around.
