I might be grabbing one, but i have limited knowledge when it come's to mp3 player's and stuff like that, i did a bit of google searching but came up short,

Basically i want to know if these damn thing's work like a regular mp3 player, where i can just transfer mp3's and converted avi file's via usb, or do i have to do that whole itune's buy per track deal, like i said, i'm really dumb as fuck when it come's to this shit.

I can transfer MP3s fine using the little cable they give you. Dunno about AVIs.

On the shuffle I had to transfer them through Itunes, otherwise they won't play. You don't have to buy the tracks though, theres an import mp3 option that works.

I have a creative mp3 player, 4 gb internal and takes a SD card .. uses mini-usb for connectivity and charging (no proprietary apple bullshit) and doesn't need any software installed and uses windows explorer (again, no proprietary bullshit). That being said, the ipod touch is the only decent ipod mp3 player. just get used to bullshit Razz

You can convert avi files for the ipod touch (there are countless converting programs out there. search google)

Files need to be added to the ipod through itunes but the files dont need to be bought through itunes.

In other words all your downloaded movies and music can easily be added to your ipod. Very Happy

I suggest jailbreaking your ipod when (if) you get it. Google for more info.
