Hi wuzzup guyz,

I just created my first game video, with use of fraps & adobe premiere pro.
Everything came out good, However the video Quality is worse when uploaded to youtube.

I've seen some sharp game videos on tube, and id like to know how.
Take this as example : http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=LUaSunh0huE
Now look at mine : http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=lcP8iqZqdVs

I exported using Adobe Premiere,
Format : H.264
Preset : Custom
Extension : MP4
Resolution of the video file itself : 512x384

How can i improve this, id like to know Smile

ThanX Br0Z!

Twisted Evil

Aight one more thing,
my upload speed wouldnt get past 50 kb/s while uploading to youtube,
Normal or ?

Hmm quality seems better with &fmt=18 behind my video url,
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=lcP8iqZqdVs&fmt=18

In order to have the automatic high quality in Youtube, your video has to be at least 480 pixels high (so for a 4:3 video, it should be 640x480).

Are all Youtube videos widescreen for everybody else now as well?

Yes, they made them wider a week or so ago. NS (narrowscreen Razz) videos are letterboxed.

Actually that's not true. I have a very old (2006) video encoded in 4:3 with letterboxing (aka "black bars") and it now shows in WS. I guess Youtube has some algorithms to discover WS videos, but it's very rare that they use it.

Thanx,
So my rendering method is oke i guess?

I also found this, HD Videos on youtube?

H264 vs MPEG4 Compressors & 720P HD?

You can safely use EITHER the Apple MPEG4 or H264 compressors to ensure the best possible visual quality you can manage (Adding now that you need to DE-SELECT B-Frames if using H264 compression).

It appears, as of 25-11-08 that YouTube now use a default 16:9 video player. This new player is a 640x360 size, so make sure any 16:9 material meets this resolution. 4:3 material retains its ratio but will pillarbox (and in some cases, letter box slightly below).

For adventurous types, you can upload 720p HD material and YouTube will recompress a 720p version (though not make it visually available by default as yet - you have to paste &fmt=22 into the video's URL).

Should you wish to "future proof" any HD material on YouTube, use these settings:

Compressor: H264 - Select Multipass & De-select B-Frames
Frame Size: 1280x720 (Better downscaling ON if sourcing from 1080i or 1080p footage)
Bitrate: Between 4000 & 6000Kb/s should work. (I've yet to confirm anything other than 5000Kb/s which I have tested.)

Uploading 720p suitable material direct to YouTube will ensure that any and all versions they currently create, will successfully be made, whilst preserving material for any future YouTube 720p default playback.

the flash plugin for ff is bugged as hell. i can't watch gametrailers videos most of the time because they only load halfway. if i open more than 30 tabs or so in ff (which is always), youtube videos stop playing after 2 seconds. and at other times, i get no sound in youtube.

so i ended up using ff for browsing and ie for watching videos Smile

When uploaded @ this quality &fmt=18 is not needed.
