The latest is to either run a dedicated server on your PC and let it fill with people (legit and non-legit, if they know your IP) or join others' non-legit dedicated servers, but you need to find their IPs in forums dedicated for that (CSRR, CSMR and so on.)

Or start listening server, no need to mess around with dedicated ones.

Are there any controls for AI in the legit version, other than difficulty? I'm making a server remote control and might incorporate that in.

Expert is all about formations. Like having the first two guys up front crouch, shoot, and shove the infected back. Then quickly changing formation to adapt to the infected spawning behind you and what not. So now you guys form a single column with the guys at the end crouching and the ones inside standing while defending your front and rear.
And running back to the safe house to restock on supplies.
At least, that's how me and my cousins play. Take's like 3-4 hours to clear a campaign since we take it very slow.
Anyway bored with the game already. The current levels are rather plain and are generally just rail shooters. I was expecting something more like a huge level with various paths to get to the safe room.
Also the weapons could have had more variety.

This game is not meant for singleplayer. Fun on multiplayer, only for a while. Ugly graphics.

I get you,it's just annoying that through each fucking page anyone who says anything about a pirated release is being bashed to hell and back
people must learn that their morals and their morals and not everyone else's

Man, advanced in the airport is freakin epic. Trying to hold off the hordes when the plane lands and having a hunter nail one of your guys in a horde. Do you save him or jump on the plane lol.
Spoiler: | That plane crash in the last level was so freakin well done. Just goes to show you that it doesn't matter how old an engine is, you can modify the hell out of it to look better |

True - but buying the games does increase the chance of new games being produced.
So its not about morals, its about the pc gaming future.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

In your case, jump on the plane and leave you to rot
(I was too busy saving someone else's ass to notice unfortunately )
I have actually tried saving a fallen comrade in a similar scenario (where everyone was ready to leave but someone gets smoked). But it's something of a fools errand with just the one of you as the horde can be quite overpowering, it really needs to be a team effort.

hehe, I've pulled it off a couple times, usually the team is busy with something else and i just happen to be right there. I love the huge rush you get when fighting through the horde to get to your teamate.

I have beaten the Hospital and the Airport campaign on Expert.
It was insane and epic. Love it.
And while I do agree with most of the critics being made to this game, I still find it to be a lot of fun.
There is very little variety in terms of levels, items and weapons. But the gameplay is really well done and the AI Director is awesome in making each play different.
Playing on an unorganized team, no MIC communication, on SP or in any difficulty expect for Expert, kills the fun for me. So maybe the ones who are not liking the game should try it with those things in mind (If the Skidrow releasee supports Hamachi or Lan play, that is).
For me, it's been a blast. Must fun I have had in gaming in a LONG time. But I can easly understand why some people don't like it... There are some elements that really could be better. But it all boils down to if the gameplay makes it worth those flaws. For me, it does.
And bashing people for playing the pirate release is REALLY stupid. I have the full game, pre-ordered it when I played the Demo. But that doesnt make me the Piracy Policy. I doubt that anyone here hasnt played downloaded and played pirate games before. Buying one lousy game doesnt make up for all the other games we got for free.

What other guns would you want that wouldn't overpower the game? A mini-gun? What would be the difference between using an M4 or M16, or a 3 different kinds of pump action shotguns in zombie hordes.
The only thing I'd say is missing is maybe some melee weapons like an axe/chainsaw/lawn mower or something.

Actually, playing on an unorganized team is fun because I end up laughing at all the shit that happens.
Like some dumb ass who keeps on shooting witches everytime we run into one, and starts bitching when we don't heal him or give him pills.
Why heal him up? So he can go shoot the next witch we run into?
lol

Well, what's the difference in Counter-Strike for example? Clip size, recoil, stopping power, sights.... I think there's something to be said for keeping things simple, but Left 4 Dead is the sort of game I would hope for a greater variety of weapons at your disposal (to use if you want, not need). Still I'm not complaining. More weapons was the last thing TF2 needed and it got them eventually.
