Is there a program that will make a windows isntall disk but with all the apps and drivers I installed?
All I can find are shit programs that back it up to another HD as if that's going to help when I erase windows.

cool program but it needs all the programs I have installed in .exe form. I remember ghost back in the day would take a direct snapshot of the HD and restore it from dvd.

Yes, ghost programs do that, and they either allow you to burn to DVD, or if too big, to boot from DVD and install a ghost that is in on of the HD drives, even if you don't have Windows installed. Acronis True Image is really recommended.

ghost wasn't giving me any options of going to a dvd boot disk. all it would let me do was backup to other hard drives.
Acronis disabled my storage HD for some reason so no go with that. Restarted 5 times and my 500GB wouldn't show up or enable, as soon as I got rid of acronis it showed back up.

Well I think I figured out ghost. But now it's saying I can't backup while windows is running. It needs to be completed in the recovery environment.
What the fucking hell is that!?!?!

Yes, because Windows (especially XP) blocks access to some of the stuff (like user profiles, registry hives and password stores), so it does the ghost before your system boots.

well it doesn't give me any option of doing it before booting. It got half way through burning shit and it keeps erroring out on me. I go to an older version (server and says make cd/dvd boot, but keeps asking me to put in fucking floppy disks.
I swear people need to learn how to fucking make their shit work right.

As above
I use
http://www.acronis.com/
It creates an exact image of your HD boot the cd and it will let you choose where to restore an image from.. I highly recommend it

Try burning to a disk and booting from that disk. Some ghosting utilities have that option.

Just noticed that the patch for Acronis True Image 2009 stopped working.
It seems (reading a lot of posts on forums and what have you) that no matter what, it will stop working within 15 days. The program works but as soon as you want to do a back up it says "Trail version" etc etc.
Just installed Acronis True Image Home 11 here. It's what i had before and should work.

and you can boot from usb stick and then back up your hd.
That should solve your storage problems.
