|
 |
Just converted my HP Compaq NX7400 to MAC OS
and quite frankly I'm never going back to windows.
I have always been a windows fanboy and never gave apple a look in. I could never get to grips with the price, the white plastic and the whole snobish elitism of Mac boys. I tell you now, I was wrong. Leopard is the dogs. I don't think I'd be so enthused if I hadn't made it work on my regular PC though.
A friend of mine has just built a quad core with 8gigs of ram running hackintosh and it is a flyer. Cost just over £400 and performs like a top of the heap Mac Pro (how much are they now?)
if you get chance do it, it isn't hard and it is mega fun

to think I was once an arrogant PC gamer as well |
People will never realize that a game is a game, entertainment is entertainment. Console games may be more simplistic and less than what PC's can do, but it's still a game and it's still entertaiment. Fun is fun, too bad people will never learn such a simple concept.
I got a 360 as of a couple months ago, and I still think it's a pile of junk, but I don't see ninja gaiden II or a few other fun games on PC

well, the 'fixed' posts are always more a joke than an actual serious statement
there's been more good wii games the last year than pc games IMO - actually i can't think of more than perhaps three good games this year
the truth, if some is to be had in that 'joke statement', is that there are no complex games made consoles
no simulations, no indepth RPGs, no games of any proper tactical or strategic depth
they're all "arcade", and good and fun for it
if that's all you need, great
but if you're after something more indepth, you're out of luck

Last good PC game, I played was the rts with the tanks, so long ago I can't think of it's name. Wish PC fanbois would quit ranting about Crysis, that game is a major bore fest, there are 50 better fPS on the consoles between them. Let go of the mice guys!
Also, back to my original post. The Hackintosh is not about the games. Some people actually use computers for work or for creativity and the OSX is a fantastic environment for it. I love it, and I have always been a hater. my media centre runs on vista and my main rig runs XP, I'm comparing apples for pears here guys, not a blinkered view taken by many in these forums. The same laptop I've had for a yearish running vista, with OSX installed it is much faster, it even runs my usb oxygen 8 keyboard with zero latency, something unobtainable under windows.

exactly.
Consoles are good for many reasons. My 360 is kinda useless now cause I buy all the games for PS3 but take Dead Space, if i were to get it for PC, i'd have to run it on low or med graphics. But I have it on PS3 and it looks exactly how its supposed to and preforms exactly how its supposed to and looks better than if i got it for pc.
But then there are game like the new BIA. I can run it on high on my pc with no lag or anything, so the graphics are top notch and i can play it with the best settings so of course.
And of course, GTA's and MGS's are made for Consoles and they arent "simple" games.
Personally, i think those who bash consoles simply cant afford them and want them but bash them to make others feel bad that they bought it (which doesnt work). In plain terms, they are jealous and act out.

You sure? EA's quite known to have worse PS3 versions when compared to 360.

Mhmm... We can't afford a console, but can afford to buy new high-end hardware almost yearly...

If I would use my comp for work, I would rather use Linux...

They have so many devs it's different from game to game..
Battlefield Bad Company was ok, and all the recent sports games have been pretty much the same I think..
The last couple of UE3 games have been pretty much the same across both platforms as well..

Well my work wouldn't involve photoshop I was thinking like office stuff, and some stuff for science. I see what you mean with photoshop, but I would still use windows, I guess I'm too addicted to it

well, dead space looks fine and plays fine. cant complain. no glitches or anything like that. graphics are great. game runs smooth, its fine for me. I dont base my opinions on what some dude on a tech forum says about something (im not saying you do, but alot of ppl do). I base it on what I see and how a game preforms.
and i wasnt talking about all ppl. Im saying some. Obviously there are those (like yourself) who choose to focus purely on pc, which is cool, but consoles are good to
I too upgrade my PC every year (well, mostly just a vid card update and or more ram). I still have 360 and a PS3 tho.

I have Leopard 10.5.5 on my EEEPC 1000H installed with OOO 3 and Office 2008, and I am bored with it. I can get wifi to work, except sound. I just have it installed just for experimenting but I can do pretty much everything in XP Home and playing MAME.
If you hate it, ignore it.
