Then i proceeded to actually research it and find out it's dead. I was talking to a buddy saying i was going to get the CycloDS Evo and he was like man just get the r4 and hooked me up with a good site. Needless to say... FUCK.
Ah well, it will work for older games and most of the homebrew i want.

Yep got it yesterday! Loving it so far, kinda bummed that Beup Live isn't working anymore, not a huge deal though. Waiting on my 2gb cards to come so i am just using a 1gb atm. I think my main use is going to be emulating old school consoles. I finally get to play punch out again! I normally play once a year, but haven't really sat down with my old xbox much recently. It seems like a few weeks of having the R4 and i'm going to break the DS heheh.
Edit:
I suppose everyone has done this at one point or another but what is the must have homebrew list?
I am running DSOrganize, NDSMail, BeUP (broked), NesDS - I think that might be it ATM, any other Gems out there?

Personally have a CycloDS with 16GB SDHC card, far better than the R4, which cannot play a lot of the recent games, and is limited to 2GB cards (I think) plus as mentioned the R4 is dead now the devs have stopped supporting it

hi all... can you help please?
my girlfriend wants a NDS for christmas... im getting her one, but also want a card like this that allow me to play game roms. I was gonna get cyclods but cant afford one. Then thought id get the R4, but after reading this...it seems a bad idea.
Is there a cheap alternative to the r4 that all games work on.. a bit like cyclods but cheaper

SCDS1, Edge, DSTT, M3-Real, EZ5
These are all cheaper and all supported atm.
DealExtreme is a cheap place to get them, though it can take a couple of weeks to arrive.
