Recommendations required!? I cant decide if 27" is going to be just too much, so 24" is probably the most likely choice. I will be using it alongside my 19" monitor for dual monitoring and may very well fall back onto the 19" for really demanding games. Would love to stick the other 19" into the mix but that would require me to get a PCI GFX card :\.. unless anyone has any other bright idea's!
I just got a 26" ViewSonic vx2640w (was originally going for the 24" BenQ G2400W(D) but found an awesome deal for this ViewSonic one) and I've nothing but good experiences so far. If a TN panel monitor isn't an issue for you, this one's easy to recommend with the low price and good, vibrant colors.
Most 24's are TN panels. The biggest complaint you'll hear is about viewing angles which always cracks me up. HEY! That monitors viewing angle sucks! I always sit at a 4829 degree angle from my screen!
I also have a G2400WD and it's wonderful, I'm not anal about color reproduction and light uniformity. Nor do I care much about light bleeding when the screen is pitch black. But as a general purpose monitor which includes gaming it's great.
I have the 2407wfp dell, the 2408 is supposedly as good, so I would recommend that.
I play EvE, Oblivion, Unreal Tournament 3 and various other 3d games with this.
Mmm.. I'm playing with the idea of getting 2, having read reviews of the cheaper dell (E248WFP) it seems to use a TN panel (which from my understanding is baaaad) and the more expensive dell (2408WFP) uses a better panel.
Looking at some comparison shots the difference is mainly to do with colours, and I'm uncertain if I will even notice.. So I'm a little stuck. I only use the machine to do some slight web work, the rest is gaming, movies, web and the odd bit of coding.
Do I spend £798.82 on the 2x2408WFP or £534.92 on 2xE248WFP.. :\..
I think this is unacceptable and went for a TN panel despite the quality reduction.
Thanks for the videos Leo, personally I couldn't notice any difference in the second video but the first certainly showed some of the issues with the more expensive monitor. I'm informed that the later revisions have fixed this issue, but to be honest, having looked at a few other videos about the cheaper monitor, I cant see a reason to not go for it.
When going for a TN panel monitor, you really can't go wrong with a/two G2400W monitor(s). From what I know it's better than that Dell (or any other 24" TN panel monitor).
I could get 2xBenQ G2400Wa for £411.13, is that the right one? Or does the a denote bad things? Slightly concerned by the monitors bezel (due to dual monitoring) and also its lack of DVI..
Lack of DVI? No. Don't know what that "a" stands for (perhaps for "atrocious" ) but the one I have has VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs, plus stereo out for HDMI sound.
Just a heads up. As far as I know the G2400W is discontinued here in the states. It was replaced by the G2400WD which uses the same panel as the V2400W but lacks the pretty aesthetics. I got mine maybe 2 months ago and they weren't selling anymore G2400W's.
Baah. Im so confused. I've decided on either 2 of the inferior dells or one of the better ones. To be honest from reading reviews online there is very little talk of the input lag in the better dell's later revisions and there is also very little talk of people being hugely disappointed by the lesser dell.
Everyone seems to be harping on about the fact that a TN has worse colours and picture, something s-pva panels fix but at the risk of screen lag. There doesn't seem to be any real comparisons showing helpful differences between the two.
That's because it's subjective. Like I said, I saw a Dell PVA monitor in a store and found the input lag unacceptable. Epsilon games on his PVA monitor without noticing any lag. It's subjective.
Buying this one tomorrow BenQ G2400WD
just b/c its only 300$ after taxes with free 3 day shipping, wanted to actually buy it for some time now but -80$ is good deal

I ended up with 2x2408WFP's simply because I found them going cheap! They're ace! The only issue at the moment is the over saturation which I have no clue how to start fixing.. thoughts?
Yes, click the control panel button and go fix it , control panel button has an icon depicting a piece of paper.
Congratulations on the purchase, I'm sure you're gonna enjoy them if you like me, don't notice input lag.
