1. So because it's a Microsoft product, that automagically makes it bullshit and PR? Can I have a set of your blinkers please, they sound awesome! Like rose-tinted glasses of yesteryear and even beer-googles! Cool-io!
2. I read your post just fine, and regardless of how you ended it - your annoyance is directedly, needlessly, to the OS.
3. Yes it is EAX. And no, I wouldn't touch a Creative SPU even if you bought it for me. Laughably enough, the reason being shoddy drivers and ZERO customer support.
4. THREE copies of EVE Online, all at once, in 1680x1050 and you get 60fps on each? I cough and call bullshit. What kind of rig are you running? A dual-socket board with two Xeons and a tri-SLi setup of GTX-280s?

No, because they're a company that wants to make money.

I don't use VISTA because the software runs worse if at all in VISTA for me, obviously.

Yes it's bugged... in VISTA.

Overclocked Core Duo with a single watercooled overclocked HD4850, 60 fps is obviously optimal, with heavy load I get around 30:ish fps, in VISTA I barely get 30 fps sitting inside the station.
And EVE is hardly that client-heavy, even in 80 man fleet fights I rarely go above 70% CPU-load. Perhaps you've been running it on VISTA and that's why your experience in EVE is so completely different to mine.

Dominae, there is no hardware accelerated audio in Vista, so there won't be any EAX effects. The one to blame is Creative for relying on one feature that has been marked as deprecated by MS long before Vista came out, and releasing new products based around it (X-Fi cards came in 2005, the year DirectSound32 was deprecated, I think).
Nice emoticon, added to SKL.

In all honesty, I still recommend ALchemy for any Vista + Creative user. If you don't have a Creative card, search for "ALchemy Universal" -- a hacked edition of ALchemy that works on ANY card, regardless of manufacturer. It works flawlessly (or at least as flawlessly as ALchemy does)

I have no reason to lie to you, bud :-\ |
Listen, I start to believe you don't even read what people post. I said twice already that I have verified the difference in speed on my machine. I used Vista and XP simultaneously and installed some of the games twice just to see the speed difference and sometimes it existed to an extent of up to 10 fps. I don't understand how can anyone argue with that.
The point is not to show you are wrong but to make a point that not for all Vista is amazing experience.
