FFIV's DS remake graphics remind of me FF7 which in my opinion isn't so bad. I personally don't care for graphics so long as everything blends in nicely which from sabin's screenshots it appears to.

Anyways back on topic..

I still have some emulators that are on my computer but I never really touch them anymore. I use to have such a giant collection of games that many I never even heard of and never went through them all even more so with MAME with such a giant library its just overwhelming. For the games that I love I simply don't play anymore as a game like Shining Force I must have beaten like a dozen times... still they sit on my hard drives taking up space as I don't have the willpower to delete the things I love...

Fully working? You mean like 100% games compatibility with perfect sound and video?

Emulators are quite fun and they have improved quite a bit, still haven't tried any PS2 titles due to their size and relatively low compatibility (Many titles still have issues.) but I'll probably give it a try someday.

Currently going trough a bunch of MAME, NES and SNES titles but I also have the full SEGA, GB, GBA, GBC, N64 set and several DOS titles albeit I'll probably never finish all of those considering the amount of games there is.
(Mame alone has something like 65000 titles though many are clones and unofficial hacks.)

FM, try one of those memory defragmentation programs (not HDD). And 32bit means you actually have 3.25GB of ram.

After playing with PCSX2 I decided to buy prechipped PS2 slim, it's such a bargain with incredibly huge game library of great games. I had PS2 many years ago but sold it, what a big mistake. Crying or Very sad

Even if you used a 64-bit OS it's still a 32-bit application so it can only use (allocate) 2GB of memory regardless of how much total RAM your computer has access to (It's a limitation of 32-bit.), there are utilities you can use to increase this to your systems maximum amount of supported memory but I'm unsure how well that will work.
(3.5 or so GB for 32-bit and 128 or so GB for 64-bit OS's.)

I've used it myself in Gothic 3 to allow the game to use more memory as it used to be very heavy on memory usage before the community patches. Smile

I'll post the link and instructions once I find them.

EDIT:
http://files.filefront.com/3GB+enabler2zip/;6791818;/fileinfo.html

Ignore the BAT file and start the command prompt (Start->run->type "CMD" and browse to the folder you extracted this program too (Preferable C:\1\ or something like that.)

Put the EXE of the program you want to modify in the same folder and type the following:
Editbin.exe /LARGEADDRESSAWARE Program.exe
(Program.exe being the program you are editing.)

Tried that and there's no sound in Zelda: The Wind Waker. Looks like there are 3 sound plugins but those dont work.

Of course FFIV doesn't need 3D. But it also doesn't HURT to have it, remember.
Im saying, that in my opinion it does, thats the whole point im trying to make Smile

Will have to test that Gamecube emu as well!

EDIT:
Super Smash Bros. Melee is almost playable. Sound/Music is pretty flawed, still
Vista x64, E6600, GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB, game uses about 100 MB RAM

Heh Gamecube emulation... the Gamecube was the only console I bought in that console generation. Just for RE4 and I got Smash Brothers Melee for free... I spent over $150 for the console and RE4 just never bought any other games and now it just collects dust. Was thinking about modding it but that requires buying a whole new case and to much trouble. Maybe I'll give its emulation a try sometime of course the amount of games on the console that even spark my interest are very few.

metroid games are interesting , and by now I think you'll get them games for 4 bucks
the gc is not worth the modding hassle it's dead by now

for me as soon as I finish my PC games I'll install Vista x64 , I have x64 bit hardware anyway

I think there's a Metal Gear Solid Remake for gamecube, but other than that?
Didnt like Metroid in 3D, destroys the game for me. The Speedrun made for it is funny though Laughing

I'll checkout the new R83 release of Dolphin, but I strongly doubt the claims of "fully working" -- this emulator has never been fully working.

As for my faves;

No$GBA - DS.
VBA - GBA.
ZSNES - Super Nintendo
Nesticle - NES
Kawaks - CPS1/CPS2/NeoGeo
Zinc - Namco/Capcom ZN1
Chankast and NullDC - Dreamcast
Kega Fusion - MasterSysem/Megadrive/32x/SegaCD
GiriGiri - Saturn
ePSXe - PS1

Very Happy

Its a lot better with SSBM, but still not playable. Sounds broken for example, but the devs were saying something about no specs for audio hardware so no emulating and some other things
So Kudos to the devs but not more than that, especially not "fully working". But hey, since your system seems to outdo mine, maybe SSBM is at least fast enough for you Smile

I'm not really into SSB, but I'll try it anyway. I'm acquiring PSO right now, should be done in 2mins. I'll try that and then grab SSB.

As for the emulator itself, it loads perfectly. No "1GB RAM" error messages so far.

=Edit=

Well PSO crashed and burned, hard. 30fps all the way into the menu, then garbled graphics and an opcode failure. Fun!

I'll try SSB later, my girl is using the net at the moment and it slows down something chronic when I'm downloading off Usenet.
