All this whining is sickening. I hope every single whiner who don't like D3 looks won't be buying it and ruining my and my friends online experience.

It’s not the people asking Blizzard to tweak the ambience that are causing the ruckus but the people playing the role of apologists - Blizzard don’t need you to ‘defend’ them as they aren’t being attacked. So seriously, if you are content with how it currently looks; shut up. You obviously trust enough in Blizzard to deliver when the time comes and so you don’t need to whine.
Game looks good and I’m itching to play it also. I just wish they’d alter the art direction to be more in line with the original Diablo - so hopefully by petitioning them in this sincere manner they will look at the response and weigh up their options. Whatever they do I’m sure we’ll enjoy the game regardless.

Or what?
It's funny how haters can post their hate in D3 thread, but those who like the game how it is can not anymore? I have to explain myself why I do like the game the way it is and not with some crappy lame grain filter put together in photoshop, WTF?

You've taken my comment out of context, put it back in that paragraph of text and suddenly it makes sense. I'm not telling you to shut up. Continue whining if you must, just put it into perspective when you're decrying 'whiners' yourself.

It's not hate, whining, or otherwise as far as I am concerned, it's genuine concern and a bit of criticism. If you like the game the way it looks now, good for you - but please stop being so damn demeanoring to other people just because they disagree.
Me, I prefer the old gothic style of Diablo, not disneyland.

As long as they don't make it brown and black only like the "How it should look like" crap..
There is more than 2 colors in Diablo 2.

I would be really surprised if Blizzard changed their art direction at this point. Remember it's been 4 years! If you don't like it there is always Sacred 2! I think the new Diablo 3 looks great! They may even change it without all the bitching. Just be patient, it's probably over a year away anyway.

Your idea is wrong. What if game would look grim and dark. Would you shut up and leave people that would like it cartoony to start petitions and bitching on forums?

After 4 years of development, I can imagine Blizzard searching for someone to blame right now: "Who the hell forgot to try the grain filter!!!"
Seriously, if you sneezes over your screen you´ll get a similar effect, and maybe feel more adult and dark... I like the game the way it is.

| Code: | Diablo III Producer - "Color Is Your Friend"
Yes, Diablo III is going to be much more vivid and vibrant than its predecessors, a fact that has some fans signing a petition against the shinier, happier art direction - now with over fifteen thousand signatures. Tracey John over at MTV Multiplayer spoke with Diablo III lead producer Keith Lee about the during the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Paris this past weekend, who defended the move towards a brighter, more colorful Diablo.
“One of the things that we considered when we were working on the visuals for ‘Diablo III’ is the fact that color is your friend. We feel that color actually helps to create a lot of highlights in the game so that there is contrast. A great analogy is like in ‘Lord of the Rings’ — not everything is dark. It allows you to see what a creepy dungeon can be like but if everything is dark it doesn’t allow you to have a lot of contrast.”
Lee also explains that they want players excited to enter and explore new areas, rather that simply provide the same dark environments over and over again.
Lee does admit that fan feedback is a major factor in how Blizzard develops titles. It'll be interesting to see what impact - if any - the petition has on the development of the game. |

That Lee guy from Blizzard sounds like a bright man, unlike most of the people that signed the petition.

Here I know alot of bitching and whinning has been going on about the artwork. I posted this in another thread as I was to lazy to retype.
"For all those who are crying foul about the art work. Let me just say I hope blizzard sticks to there guns. When in the history of blizzard have they ever made a bad game. Name one. Now basicaly all of you who are disatisfied with the art direction that is fine it is your opinion. But you also have to think about what you are saying. You are bascialy invoking that blizzard does not know what they are doing with there game. It is one thing to express your opinion it is a whole other to start a petition because you want to get a point across and make this company of all companies look like they are not competent in doing there job at making some of the most enjoyable long lasting addictive video games we have come to know. With that being said. This game is going to be amazing whatever Blizzard is doing with it. Keep up the good work and look foward to its release envisioned by Blizzard."

Ace is basically bang on. People need to let Diablo 3 be diablo3. Blizzard won't fail. They NEVER have. If Starcraft 2 is a success, I think the point will be driven home huge. They are the most successful PC gaming company out there. Argue that its all from WoW, and I'll tell you Starcraft, Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 are still some of the most played PC games available.

No one's arguing about the quality of their games. What we're questioning is Blizzard's ability to make good-looking 3D games, which they so far haven't done. Blizzard were good at 2D, as shown by Warcraft2, Diablo 1&2 and Starcraft, but many of us happen to think Warcraft 3 & WoW looks ridiculous; and now they're making Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 just like them!

And their success comes with a price. They are afraid of taking risks and doing something new. Instead, they repeate same patterns over and over again. It is all so calculated that it's sickening really.
Blizzard is naturally free to do whatever they like with their games, but I do have to say that whilst Diablo had something unique in it, what I've seen so far from Diablo III seems just like repetition of recent history. Seriously, they could have just announced that the title is "WarCraft Action (RPG)". Basically another part of the same "successful franchise".
But 'nuff said, I'll leave the funboys to their intense Blizz cock-suckage. Now can somebody make the noir fantasy rpg that the rest of us would like see? Pretty please? We promise we'll buy it.

Pleaset take a good look at this petition:
http://www.petitiononline.com/d3art/petition.html
its about Diablo3, and about how it should look like. Please read it, and check the modified pictures you can find there, then decide if you want to sign it or not.

Diablo 3's too far ahead in production terms , and they're trying the broaden the audience , remember when Diablo 2's sales were outnumberd by Barbie Pet Rescue back in 2000 ?
I understand where they're going but .. shit , its sad too see something as dark as the Diablo series go down the toilet . It's like the movie buisness nowadays , forcing some pictures to be trimmed down from an R rating to PG-13 , or make a sequel with a PG-13 specifically in mind (I'm talking to you LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD!) , even though with game , i don't think that Blizzard will make a T game , but nonetheless it won't be too scary for some poor shmuck wanker either.
I don't really mind the look of the game , but maybe when i'll be playing it and i'll compare it to Diablo 2 or 1 and then will i start scratching my head in agony.
I dunno about you , not that i'm dissapointed or anything with the latest developments in Blizzards series of games aka Starcraft 2 , Diablo 3 , etc .. it's like they arent pushing themselfs as much as in the 'before WoW' era .

Right, we're not bright, because we don't share your opinion, great reasoning, really goes to show how bright you are. |
No, you are not bright because you think you know more about game developing and styling from looking at a very early 20 min of gameplay footage, than the very best developers (artists) at Blizzard who actually make the game.
