picard. hes a badass, id be quite happy to say hes equal to shatner, but this is the captain i grew up with, so he gets the edge... man i hope they do another tng movie... one final one, but with a good director... i know theyre gettin old, but i dont give a shit

Patrick Stewart. Because he and Brent Spiner are the only two actors in the history of Star Trek who actually knew what the hell they were doing, with maybe the exception of that episode when Picard gets kidnapped and the bad guy from Baldur's Gate 2 tells him there is five lights.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Well I voted Sisko, even though I like Patrick Stewart's acting (and the character) a lot. Sisko, however, is more likeable as a character, tho DS9 was the best series with the longer story arcs and darker themes so I guess it's not exactly a fair comparison.

dont get me started, the whole 'reboot' is fucking pathetic and insulting. kirk IS shatner... they are an icon together.. perhaps we should remake terminator with some dumbass wrestler? alien with sarah michelle gellar is ripley? its wrong and its pathetic, and while im sure there'll be some pretty cgi and explosions, i still think the new film is a horrible mutant child that should have been killed a birth.
however, simon pegg and karl urban are in it, so ill watch it just for those 2 dudes

the new movie may suck in the sense you cant really have a different kirk or bones or o'hara or scotty etc
but im still definetly going to see it. And probably buy it when it comes to dvd. Star trek is awesome. Except for maybe Enterprise, Scott Bakula should be shot. He's no captain, he looks like a pussy imo

The captains were just doing what was in the script anyway so saying one was tougher than the other is pretty much moot. Yes picard had the voice and the bald head so he came off as a badass but then you're voting for the actor not the character. Picard (the captain) had the easiest task and possibly the best crew with super-loyal Riker, a superhuman-like Data, psychic Troi, Geordi with super-vision not to mention super-irritating (but sometimes super-helpful) nerd-boy Wesley. Boring.
Janeway on the other hand, was in the difficult position of being lost where no man or woman had been before and a really shitty, often rebellious crew which was more trouble than help. Those people had some serious personal issues. Former sworn enemy of the Federation Chakotay, vulcan Tuvok who was often at loggerheads with his captain, half klingon B'elana with serious pms, former thief/swindler Paris, former Borg drone 7 of 9, super-irritating (but always super-useless) Neelix and the conflicted doctor. Janeway (the character) managed to make this hostile group work with each other and ultimately got them safely back. Shit she broke a dozen Federation regulations to get her crew back safer/faster home. Janeway for president.
