Isn't the Wii considered exercise these days?, Work and gaming can co-exist, growing up has nothing to do with abandoning hobbies and many games are rated adult so yeah..., dignity is earned when you teabag and corpse hump after a headshot, ice cream and exercise are mortal enemy's, and you can always travel with a laptop ,PSP, DS, Nokia Ngage and so on.

I think you are confusing 'growing old' with 'growing up' and in your case, while the former is inevitable the latter is doubtful at best. Very Happy

There are studies that claim that playing video games are actually healthy. So while games shouldn't be the main focus of a man's life, they should certainly be there from time to time.

Plus from my own experience (not with leaving games, but similar), trying to quit instantaneously (eg "Selling all my consoles," "Not doing that ever again," etc) never really works. You have to achieve it step by step.

in my opinion having a wii is no reason to not grow up. I know a lot of 30-40 yr old managers/PhD's, smart and working hard, making lots of money, and they play on the wii now and then.
I did my internship in a biotech subsidiary of BASF and those IT managers there had a Wii gaming night on friday (on a chipped Wii of course:p).

There is nothing wrong with having a hobby when you grow up/start working/studying.
I study and i have a wii/2 pc/gamecube/tv in my room and i still pass with very good marks. It is all about balance. You study all day long and in the evening i play 1-2h wii. You see that banner under my post? I made that website during my exams last year. I studied all day, and in the evening i played 2h zelda and 1h website making. You need to get some distraction after studying. As long as you stick to your own limits, you should be fine. Just tell yourself 2-8h study 8-11h Wii, there is nothing wrong with enjoying things if you do productive things most of the day Wink

no ill be around, just not so active in the console forum i guess.

you guys have alot more self discipline then me i guess, for me if its not there then the temptation is not there also. I mean even if i do game for 1-2 hours a day it adds up, when i could be doing more productive things.

I guess it depends on where you are in your life and your free time. 2-3 hours a day is alot if you don't have the time and should be doing other things. If you are set in you life, you got your school done, not taking work home and have time to spend it is better than going out to a bar and spending money that should be going to a mortgage. Everyone needs entertainment and personally I don't think gaming is alll that bad if you aren't addicted to it. In the long run it can be a good thing if you have self control. A fun thing, even shared with other friends. Some couples love to play games together.

Sounds like you have you mind made up and I don't want to tell you any different. You know what is best for you.

I don't know about the self discipline of other members or myself tho, we all have to have something.

Personally I had a shitty week, I did what I had to do work wise but nothing more and I played more hours of games then I ever had before. My games are lame tho.

I wish you all the best Very Happy

I agree, it's hard to make time to play games. Luckily good PC games are few and far between Razz

Reckon it's that pole dancing thing, heard it's picking up lately as a hobby. Very Happy
And all the reasons Mastah J listed are just excuses, none of those are mutually exclusive with gaming!

But you get to enjoy yourself and if it's a good game, some sweet experiences as well. What else could be more important than that?
