This is so not true. Remember season one, ABC wanted to relocate the show from Hawaii to California to cut production costs, they were actually loosing money with it. And shows get more and more expensive the longer they run, because actors usually get a raise with each new season. The ratings are at an all time low now as well. Lost is only 14th on the most watched list, the show lost 20 percent of it's viewers at the end of season two.

WTF are u talking about Confused Do you really think the salaries for actors are that high in a TV series?!
Ever watched Battlestar Gallactica? That are pretty high costs 4 an TV series that runs only in the middleclass, lost plays manly on a Island, on beaches etc...its low budget, believe me!
well whatever, we will se in season 3... Idea

I do know that the pilot episode for Lost itself cost a couple of million to make.

With BG once the sets are created the production costs are relatively low, compared to lets say, renting out sections of a Hawaiian island and locating all your staff and actors nearby. Lost is not low budget at all.

Yeah, because of the plane crash and all the effects. Otherwise the series is rather low key on such things.

You seem to have no clue. Let me show you some examples. Lets take The King of Queens, both Remini and James will get 0.5 million each for one ep next season, that sums it up to $24 million dollars for two actors alone, you would call that low budget. Or what about Friends, all of the six main characters got around one million each for one episode during the last season. Thats 6x24=144 million, low budget, eh?. And actors usually have contracts wich guarantee them a nice raise if the show gets renewed for a season, one reason why the 7th Heaven (yea i know its crap) almost didn't get renewed because it's now coming to it's 11th season, wich would mean even higher salaries.

And you really think that shooting in Hawaii for a whole season is cheap, including the long list of actors Laughing

Thats what I meant, no sets have to been build(which costs also millions), not much special effects, stunts, etc. like for example in 24, BG, Deadwood... Ok, they have a lot of character in the show that all wants to get paid, but thats prolly the most expensive part of the whole production.

"You seem to have no clue"

yeah sure, and you know it all huh? Rolling Eyes

I really dont want to argue anymore about who is right or wrong or closer at estimating the production costs of this show...I just wanted to get rid of my theories 4 season 3, jeez... Laughing

lost spent around $45 million on the first series, so i would assume that went up quite a bit for season 2.
And a quote from a lost fansite

Quote:
Hawaii production costs can be as much as 35 percent higher than in Los Angeles

And they get paid just aswell as the ladies from desperate housewives for season 3 $80,000 a episode.

I thought Hawaii production costs were smaller, because they don't have to pay an immense amount of taxes there?

That tax law is aimed at tech companys starting up, and a few films went to hawai to be filmed and used that rule and then the government realised they had been screwed out of quite a few ( 30 roughly) million tax dollars so i think they are changing it/not let them do it, as there was rumours of it being filmed in the states for season 3.

you're quite wrong, the biggest plots in the Lost story revolve around somekind of time cycle or parallel reality, even if there are some stuff that seem like parapsychological storyline, I'm sure it's only there to confuse the viewer more and more.

in the end we will see that Lost was nothing more than an outsanding story about the tragedies people suffer through out there lives, all this from the point of view of memories that a group of people that arrive on an island ,in several different occasions, that is suffering under the effects of a time distortion that is responsible for all the strange stuff they witness within that island.

True true, but then Jack, Kate, Hurley gets out of the time hole ? And it might still be something Ben "setup". But still so many many unansweret questions Smile I just hope it will all be tied together at some point

I'm sure it will, during the 2nd season until the middle of the 3rd season I was losing my faith on Lost, but not anymore, now they are really starting to answer some stuff.
the writers said several times that the entire story was finished on paper since the beginning, and that they wouldn't alter anything down the line, so we can't expect nothing less than 0 loose ties by the end of the show.

I thought that Miles guy would use his device (that look like a vacuum cleaner) to suffocate the ghost of the dead boy using the device. Like in Ghostbusters Very Happy

Still i don't like putting paranormal entities into the show (like Jacob and now Miles). But the 04x02 was a really good ep.
