					| |
					| Always liked historical films etc, but they have to be sort a good ones. To me good means
Rome (TV)
Elizabeth 1 (with Helen Mirren) (TV Mini)
 The Tudors (TV)
 I, Claudius (Derek Jacobi) (TV)
 Kingdom of Heaven etc. (Movie)
 Braveheart (Movie)
Name of the Rose (total fiction, but still GOOD!) (Movie)

Not so good ones but watchable.
 Troy (Movie)
 Alexander (Movie)

Just finished watching the 1st series of "The Tudors" I find it excellent but of course it has some historical flaws, I guess to fit the scriptwriters concept etc, still very good series.

So what I am asking here is if you guys could recomend some other "GOOD" historical stuff.

					| He he he, Oh hell yea!
That and BOB!!!!great WWII film/series
My thinking was a bit older stuff like lets say from Roman- Victorian time frame.
Saving Private Ryan is also up there, WWII flicks that is.
I am sure not bad. But anything pre...lets say 1975 or so is for me...well, lets say I dont like stuff when the guys are wearing a Knights Armor and have Brylcreem in their hair

					| Lets say non 20th century, anything previous I guess. But my current interest is mainly in the middle ages. Roman is always good...oh forgot.
Gladiator, again not 100% historical, but a dam good film!

					| I prefer Rome to Gladiator actually... just the way the characters are developed is fantastic, obviously Gladiator is more epic, but still Rome is over 10 times longer (= BONUS!!)

					| Savages haven't seen Der Unterground (Downfall)
It portrays the last week of Hitler's life and all the people surrounding him during this time. Fascinating movie, won tons of awards. It's in german with eng subs. Don't care if you hate subtittles if you are a WW2 fan you must have this movie.

You named a few good ones, but I would never call Braveheart 'historical' 'hollywood' maybe
how about Blackadder? good fun to watch aswell and im sure totally true to the facts! |

 ditto

Braveheart, tho one of my favourite movies, is hardly accurate. I have a documentary about William Wallace on DVR...Braveheart the movie missed alot of shit.

					| True, true. But ok, I saw a new (oldie 1989) yesterday, "Henry V" , the one with Kenneth Branagh and a VERY young Christian Bale. Brilliant, ok it's based on Shakespeare's play, but still good stuff...if you can endure the language | |
