The Revolution release seems no different to me. It still says 'Version 2002' in System properties and 'Version 2004' in Help and support. Surely this isn't correct?
Also, when I try to run the Media Centre part, it just loads in some screwed up resolution. Is there a minimum res needed to run? (I'm on 1024x768 on my laptop).

This is just an update to Media Center, not the OS. Therefore it's still going to be XP 2002 SP2. As far as help and support goes, I suppose MS didn't update it since the MCE 2004 update. I assure you these are straight off MSDN, so unfortunately it's correct.

Runs fine here at 1024x768 @ 85Hz. I believe it's designed with 60Hz in mind though.

What I meant is, it says "Windows XP Media Centre Edition Version 2002 SP2"... whether the 2002 refers to the version of MCE or not I don't know.
Anyway, I read on some forums that Media Centre needs 64Mb of Video RAM.. this seems a little overkill. What's the minimum graphics card Media Centre needs? Anyone know?
I'm not even interested in the TV side of things, it was mainly mp3's, images, etc that I was interested in. =/

It says version 2002 sp2 because its built on XP Pro.
The actual MCE component is really v2005..
You can check the version of the media center in its about which is mce 2005...
Supported graphics/tv-tuner cards---

I installed it on another PC in the house with a Radeon 9600, runs fine. Guess the crappy ProSavage in my laptop can't handle it. I liked that video demo, was real nice quality.
And I had the same problem with the crack, just keep trying until windows pops up asking you to replace the file

The BRiCK release is beta. Check it out for yourselves - open the eula.txt in the i386 folder on the CD and it clearly mentions pre-release code near the top.
The REVOLUTiON release, being a proper, doesn't say it's pre-release.

when I use the crack it says 'click cancel and yes on the windows file restoration. Wait for the dialogue box'
after doing this, and after a reset i have activate it again.

If you click yes on the file restoration you are RESTORING!! the files the crack removes, The idea is NOT to restore them.!!!

Actually using my method of overwriting the hidden winlogon.exe in \WINDOWS\system32\dllcache will eliminate this problem, as it will restore the cracked version from this folder because thats where it sources the restoration files from.

Yes. I didn't see it to be a necessity to remove that, since all the user needs to do is right-click on it and delete manually. It's actually in there in two locations. Accessories --> System Tools

i just installed this: Microsoft.Windows.XP.Media.Center.Edition.2005.PROPER.MSDN-REVOLUTiON
using VMware Workstation 4.5.2 on my Windows XP Pro machine
install went fine, and i cracked it properly... but when i load windows, it looks normal, and i cant even open IE, and almost all the programs dont work and are missing, and theres no MCE anywhere on the screen.
Did i do something wrong? I installed both cds and stuff... So I duno whats going on.

My friend just download the Brick version but he doesnt know how it works and he dont want to screw up his PC. Is this a Addon or you boot with CD1, install like you normally do then install CD2 when you're back in windows or you install both cd's on the XP already installed??

Windows.XP.SP2.11in1.DVD.READ.NFO-XiSO
or
Windows.XP.9in1.CD.READ.NFO-XiSO
which both contain MCE 2005
- both have a working version with a 1 button crack
- a friend and i both have MCE 2005 computers now, it works great
