I got a pc in my office and a mac and a laptop Razz

KaputXino, osx is small to download, the latest one is around 7 gigs... problem is you can't burn DMG files on a pc. You need a mac system to read them and burn them. Sad So there's nothing I can do. Sad

WaldoJ, if you happen to got access to another mac, you could clone the needed install disc to an external drive (hdd, iPod... etc)... well, just another option beside burning DL media Smile

---
EDIT: BTW, 2 DVDs version of Mac OS X are the Tiger one ? aka 10.4... In that case you could try to 'kill' install via Command-Q(this one worked on 10.3... haven't tried on 10.4, although it skips registration right to the account creation) or forced shutdown as the second disc is mainly for the bundled apps(iMovie, iDVD... etc)... If after restart it wouldn't ask for the second disk again you will be able to leech it and burn / clone it and install needed stuff via "Install Mac OS X and Bundled Software" on disk 1.

And as a last resort(still will require the second disk or wouldn't boot at all after killed install) as you have made backups just reinstall as 'clean' system without printers drivers, bundled software so it will not require the second disk... then just leech&burn/clone Very Happy

Also if you have an external drive you could install the same 'clean' system on it. If there are some files there is an option to Archive and install... All files on target disk will be put to "Previous System" folder(or something in that vein)... then again just leech&burn/clone Very Happy

Well, hope that helps Smile

In order to copy files you would need MacDrive[link]. 5 days trial available.
I only used version 6 and according to product site version 7 now works with .dmg files. So you will need to
1) format external drive in HFS+ aka HFS Extended aka Mac OS Extended
2) copy everything from .dmg to external drive
3) name external drive the same as install cd 2. On my 10.4 dvds the name of the second dvd is "Mac OS X Install Disc 2"

This should work cause AFAIR installer checks for volume name only.

Or if by copy you mean burning then there is TransMac and also MacDrive(basically it allows Windows to read/write to/from HFS file system). Or you could convert .dmg -> .iso and burn via common apps. For conversion I only used dmg2img[link](requires cygwin[link])

I used TransMac(just for testing) to burn Leopard on windows, but Transmac burned only mac part of the image without BootCamp drivers on windows partition.

Good to hear... just be careful with bootcamp partition in Parallels under Leopard. Even 5540 beta still dies occasionally for me. ATM release version 5160 corrupts bootcamp partition itself, but beta 5540 corrupts its own config files Very Happy

But it is so awesome to use Parallels / VMware in Leopard with Spaces Very Happy In my setup it is just Ctrl+right cursor key and here we are at full screen Windows; Ctrl+left cursor key - back to Mac OS X.... groovy Razz

And my MacBook Pro is running much cooler under Leopard. With bootcamp partition under Parallels VM + Ubuntu Server under VMWare with normal everyday usage patterns it is just 45-55C(CPU), under Tiger same setup - 58-68C(CPU) Smile

Take it in, I am sure the mac people can fix it. You have to be able to fix it too. Have you tried starting up from the hard drive (control C or something) I haven't had your problem tho.

Is it fixed now?
